Which they got from the opening misleading bit of yesterday 1st statement
"After careful consideration, it is time for me to end my ownership of Barrow AFC. The plan was for this to take a bit more time, but when Paul Hornby stepped up to take over, I knew it was right"
“To correct some erroneous reporting you may have seen, I will be acting as a steward in an interim Chairman role, not taking over as sole owner.”
Should have left at the end of the season to give a chance to sell in close season, bills would have been lower.

It's nice that you are giving this your full intellectual capacity - frankly, you wouldn't know good if it hit you in the face - your posts are really not worthy of a reply - so why don't you just crawl back under your stone and f off ??

Re: Updated Statement From Andrew Casson
Heard someone tonight say that the majority of people interested in AFC thought that PC had broken his promises re the ground.
I think this is grossly unfair. Yes there are some who think that as we have seen on here many times, but the majority? Sorry that is just not true.
Were they promises or aspirations? I think the latter and as has been said PC found that running the club was much more complex and expensive than he had first visualised, and he had to reevaluate his aspirations.
PC has just gifted £3M to the club. Give the man a break.

Re: Updated Statement From Andrew Casson
The fact remains that PC was initially quoted in the local and national press as saying he was going to get the club back into the football league (£2million) and build a new stadium (£10million). The icing on the cake being the formation of a supporter's group to help choose the design of said stadium.barrowfan wrote: ↑Fri Oct 26, 2018 9:24 pm Heard someone tonight say that the majority of people interested in AFC thought that PC had broken his promises re the ground.

Give the man a break by all means but stick to the facts.

Talking of facts please post a link or quote where he said he was going to spend £12M.Wintergreen wrote: ↑Sat Oct 27, 2018 8:32 amThe fact remains that PC was initially quoted in the local and national press as saying he was going to get the club back into the football league (£2million) and build a new stadium (£10million). All this [SwearFilter] could have been prevented if he actually employed someone with a background in behind the scenes football club management at the start, He went fact finding at Fleetwood and came back with Colne Dynamoes ideas instead.
Re: Updated Statement From Andrew Casson
I think we have to get a sense of realism with this.
This week Debenhams announced that they were closing 50 stores. Hopefully Barrow is not one of them but it could be. When they opened those 50 stores they certainly didn’t expect that they would be closing them, but any business has to look at changing circumstances.
The Cassons expected the Barrow people to support them more than they did, in just the same way as Debenhams did with those 50 stores.
Times change and businesses have to change as well.
I agree that the Cassons should have employed people who actually knew about running a football club, but they didn’t.
Last night Andrew admitted that they had made mistakes along the way, but you can’t help but admire a family that writes off £3M in memory of their late father.
Last night Paul Hornby said they’d already had an offer to buy the club outright. It must be very tempting to say OK, bit I think that PH knows the dangers in doing that. Personally I would favour a consortium of people to take the club forward.
We should draw a line under the past and move forward to a hopefully bright future.

Re: Updated Statement From Andrew Casson
Employing Andrew was the biggest mistake. All along the biggest surprise with Paul Cassons takeover was that for such an obviously successful businessman he didn’t employ a proper MD etc to run the club

Re: Updated Statement From Andrew Casson
If they did expect much more support then they were living in "cloud cuckoo" land. The days of significantly higher attendances at places with the population of Barrow are over and anybody looking at attendances in the lower football league of national league attendances would know that much higher attendances were unlikely. A few clubs buck the trend but most don't. It's also been proved that with astute management (or large financial support) you can survive in the lower levels of the football league. Accrington got promoted from Division 2 to Division 1 two seasons ago with average attendances of 1,608. Last season in Division 1 they averaged 1,979. Even this season while currently lying 4th in Division 1 they average 2,267. Six clubs in Division 2 are averaging less than 3,000 with another 5 less than 4,000. I have no idea whether Accrington have a large financial backer but most of their players have been recruited from lower levels or are loan players. They obviously have a manager or scouts with an eye for decent lower level players. However well Barrow do on the field they will never attract many more people than the Accringtons of this world.barrowfan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 27, 2018 11:53 am I think we have to get a sense of realism with this.

Re: Updated Statement From Andrew Casson
I can't believe someone called barrowfan would need this information. I can only suppose you were out of the country or indisposed round about the time of the Rochdale FA Cup game. The 'facts' were reported in the Sun, the Telegraph and the Evening Mail to name a few. This is an extract from what the Telegraph piece said.
"He (Casson) invested over £2 million and wants to spend another £10 million on a new stadium. Barrow were expelled from the Football League in 1972. They are currently challenging just outside the National League’s play-off places, recently going 26 matches unbeaten." https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/20 ... er-league/
I don't know what your motivation is but as you say let's have facts not fantasy.
