Absolutely shocking to allow him to go. Complete lack of ambition and that's 2 people (my son and myself) who have been regularly spending money with the club who won't be in future!

The only lack of ambition is from Rooney. Players move on, the club is where your love is, surely?

Of course you can hold him to his contract for a year. The man who makes this team tick and worth watching. Evatt leaving was understandable as he was moving to a bigger club but this isn't.

Bit harsh that RA. If players don't want to play for you, what can you do. IMO we got a decent price for him and we move on. It was always the case that when the manager went one or two players may follow. I'm sure DD will build a decent squad. I'll be surprised if you do not go and watch league football at Holker Street for the first time in many a year.

I can't watch football at Holker Street in any case but I watch as many matches as I can in the south when it's near enough to travel and my son has become a Barrow fan but we are both completely deflated by this. I'm afraid this is just what football has become these days. It's nothing more than a money making exercise for managers and players.

As soon as you stop a player leaving and make them stick to their contract they suddenly lose form and just mope around. Ronaldo at Man Utd being a classic example .

So take £75,000 and lose a player who doesn't want to play. Or spend circa £100,000 on a players wages who doesn't want to stay and then get nothing when he leaves?

If we offered him improved terms and he turned it down, still wanted out, then yes, time for both parties to move on.
