Joel has been away from Sunderland for 6 years still making basic mistakes.
The only mistake we made was not having him on contract but then people say Evatt would not want him says it all.

As somebody who voted for Joel Dixon as the most
consistent player for Barrow I would be sad to see him go.However I don,t blame him.if he decides to go and test himself at another club.He has been a loyal servant to the club and he has contributed to our success in staying in this league.I think the manager and the board already have a replacement in mind ,so I although a bit disappointed am not too worried.This is what happens to smaller clubs when bigger ones come sniffing round.It may not be fair,but is the nature of the game.If it was possible to have a more level.playing field on players wages perhaps this situation wouldn't keep happening,but we have Jimmy Hill to thank for the situation we now find ourselves in where players wages are constantly being inflated and now far outstrip what the ordinary person can earn

I think Dixon is a decent goalkeeper. In fact, I voted for him as Player of the Year. However, I have noticed that most goalkeepers we have played against have also looked pretty decent. Very few have made mistakes against us. Joel has also made few mistakes this season but he has made some and he does struggle with crosses at times. If he does leave, I would think that position should be relatively easy to fill. I certainly wouldn't view him leaving with the horror I felt when I found Rooney was leaving at the end of last season. My main worry this season is that somebody will come in with a decent bid for Quigley which we couldn't refuse.

He could be sat on the bench a lot. Bolton already have two keepers in the top twenty.

Bolton's goalkeeper is Matt Gilks who is 39 years old and was signed to be the goalkeeping coach and a stand by player. The original first choice goalkeeper was Billy Crellin, a young player who was an England youth international and was signed on loan from Fleetwood for the season. However, he was such a disaster that Gilks had to replace him and has been first choice ever since. They will certainly be looking for another goalkeeper next season.

Agree with that, especially if they look at Saturday's footage on the web.

However as I've said before he has saved us many points in previous games, but good enough for L1? Don't think so.

I think several of our players could play in L1 - if they could play in a better quality squad. Sean McConville was one of the most mediocre players I've seen in a BAFC shirt at NL level. However he is a regular in Accy Stanleys first team and looks a completely different player these days.

But you have to create a role for yourself at that level. Joels performances would be viewed differently at Bolton who now consider themselves as a side transitioning back to at least Championship level. Appraisal and expectation changes. Bolton fans are now looking at their squad wondering how many of them are capable of mounting a challenge to get out of L1 (before they're even in it). The club will have similar expectations.
So if Joel went to Bolton he'd be expected to improve immediately if he was going to sustain a position as a No1 keeper. He'd also be rotated much more frequently based on performances.

Would he be up to that. Dont know. Maybe he doesn't either. But you cant fault him if he wanted to give it a go. He has a season in L2 under his belt and a good one. So he has a level he could go back to if it didn't work out.

Joel Dixon has kept us in many games this season and has been our most consistent performer. My player of the season. 200 appearances and played under quite a few managers with different styles. His all round game is good and his positional sense is great. Can fully understand Evatt showing an interest in a very dependable keeper who still has his best years to come.

I think was has to happen going forward is a cap on how much clubs are allowed to pay a player.This would give more clubs a greater chance of hanging on to their best players and stop good teams from being destroyed by rich clubs swooping in and cherry picking the best players.
The end result of this race for these players is what has happened with the proposal for a Super League where money becomes the end game instead of providing reasonably priced entertainment for the football supporters.
Perhaps one way would be to put the agents under a control body to reign in some of the outrageous demands some of these agents make and maybe make it a more level playing field for the smaller clubs.

Joel has ability to play the ball out with his feet as well as being a shot stopper he could easily play in league 1 he has made 2 mistakes all year from what I can remember this season very low for a keeper at our level. Quiggs scoring 15 goals with a borderline non existent midfield to feed him. Quiggs also missed a bunch off games talents both. Tell you who bolton would enjoy Mendes Gomes young and bags of talent. Brough has come on leaps and bounds this year can play both roles on the left and has added goal scoring to his talents this year also.

I don't understand what your saying, I know what he was saying and I agreed with him, I was pointing out the same thing happened with Andy Bond when he was out of contract at Barrow he signed for the then League one club Colchester when he refused to sign a new contract with Barrow its a comparison of what's happening now.
