I realise who and where he is. My point, badly made, was that the same man is now writing about Barrow, too.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 8:54 pm He is a Newsquest employee based in Carlisle. The Mail do not have any employee as a dedicated sports reporter living in the furness area hence the poor coverage compared to Carlisle
Not sure who will write match reports for The Mail; I imagine Jon Colman will continue to report from Brunton Park. Who wrote the Stevenage report? It doesn't seem to have appeared on the website.
Mall, the former CN Group office HQ and print hall buildings in Carlisle are proposed for demolition and the substantial site sold with the exception of a space for a new base for sales and 'digital journalism'. It appears that this will be about the size of a large house and drawings suggest will house fifteen or so workers. DETAILS
There is an application on the Carlisle Council planning portal for the demolition side of the project.
Not clear if the Kendal base, where most work seems to happen at present, will be retained.

Massively looking forward to getting back to HS this evening.
Can’t see it being a thing of beauty but think we’ll edge it 1-0 with 1,420 in attendance.

They generally get match reports from the press association - it’s very rare someone is in the press box representing the MailHadrian wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 7:56 amI realise who and where he is. As regards Jon if it wasn’t for the fact that he is as highly renowned in journalism as he is (by that I mean multi award winning) newsquest would have potted him too - they don’t want sport they want community interest.

Hope we take tonight seriously, good chance to get a win under our belts, score a couple of goals and possibly get a Prem side next round.
I’m looking forwards to seeing us play a league cup game at Holker St……never thought I’d ever type that sentence. Let’s make the most of it.

No, I though your point was well made indeed. I was just pointing out what some people who never go into the town centre may not know......the former Mail offices up for sale.Hadrian wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 7:56 amI realise who and where he is. Community interest as far as Barrow is concerned would be enhanced by a dedicated local sport journalist would it not.Adam29 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 8:46 amThey generally get match reports from the press association - it’s very rare someone is in the press box representing the MailHadrian wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 7:56 am

How would that lot in Carlisle feel if they had some gadgie from Barrow reporting on them-there would be uproar, you know it and I know it.

Well if they don't take it seriously, they can kiss goodbye to a decent gate on Saturday.mickycarrol wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 9:47 am Hope we take tonight seriously, good chance to get a win under our belts, score a couple of goals and possibly get a Prem side next round.

Re: Barrow v [SwearFilter] United - Match Predictions
Somebody on here used to do posters for every home game I used to put them up at work and we used to get a few extra fans!
Even if that person can't produce them perhaps the club could make them so they could be downloaded etc., just a thought.

Re: Barrow v [SwearFilter] United - Match Predictions
Exactly..........A few seasons ago you couldn't walk in any shop in the town centre without being confronted by a poster advertising the Roiders next home match.

Re: Barrow v Scunthorpe United - Match Predictions
The problem isn’t advertising or promotion
It’s quite simply we’ve had 18months where people have not been able to go, so all the hype and euphoria that was built up in the town during the promotion season has sadly died down.
You have the hardcore support
You have a few hundred extra who have been bitten by the bug but the rest need to be enticed again.

Re: Barrow v [SwearFilter] United - Match Predictions
I think part of the problem was that people could not go and have their picture taken with the trophy when we won promotion during the pandemic so all the hype around the club has disappeared.
The way to reignite is by winning games starting tonight and going on a cup run.It doesn,t help with there being no sports reporter based in the town,so let,s start by turning up tonight and cheering on the Bluebirds.
