We need to score some goals though, otherwise the defence is always going to be under pressure and nervous.

Farman keeps us in games .
The worrying thing is we keep making the same mistakes and it's not being sorted at training.

Poor form lately. 1 win in the last 10 league games. We’ve not won at home since November.

It’s just survival now unfortunately, shadow of the team that started the season.

Although the focus is on the mistakes that cost us points, the stark fact is that we have only scored 7 goals in 11 matches since the start of December. Three of those were at Mansfield, which might be considered a bit of a freak result.

Two darws 0-0, two draws 1-1, two 0-1 defeats and one defeat 1-2. It is goals we need!

The sending off was shocking, but that goal was terrible defending a free header!
Sorry but Waters is clueless his first touch is shocking and knocked off the ball too easily, WHY does no one shoot and why play with 2 holding midfielders at home?
Thought wild left the substitutions too late and even then what's all this f*****g about with sheets of instructions it's totally embarrassing, first half we were OK but when team's change things we're far too slow to react ,what a crap day !

You're right Jim but we play with 2 holding midfielders and don't get in the penalty area with any conviction!

A very frustrating afternoon- we started brightly in both halves but in each we ended up defending deeply. With 15 minutes to go we made three changes to freshen things up but a very harsh red for Feely five minutes later, followed by a very harsh free kick awarded deep into injury time, leading to a corner/free header, which finally gifted the game to Newport County.

15 minutes in, Demetriou was booked for a foul on Garner whose free-kick hit the wall. A minute later we cam close to scoring when Neal’s ball forward resulted in a diving header by Garner which was saved. McClelland then shot wide from inside the area.

Newport then came more into the game, Lewis crossing to McNeill whose 27th minute shot was saved by Farman for a corner.

However, three minutes later, we fashioned another effort Whitfield forcing a save after a Newby cross on

The last 15 minutes found us preventing Newport from scoring rather than creating more ourselves, 0-0 at half-time.

Five minutes into the second half, Lewis was booked for a foul on Whitfield. Three minutes later, Farman punched out a free kick from Lewis.

In the 57th minute a deflected Newby shot went past the post following good work from Waters and Garner

Two minutes later, Lewis drilled a shot from a narrow angle on the right just past Farman and the left post, a let-off for Barrow.

In the 65th minute, a couple of changes for the visitors saw McNeill and ex-Bluebird Zanzala replaced by Kavanagh and Bogle. Ten minutes later Gotts, Bennett and Young came on for Neal, Garner and Newby.

In the 78th minute, Charley was then booked for a foul on Gotts, a second challenge in the same attach being unpunished. Feely was harshly punished though three minute later as he was red-carded for a challenge on Lewis.

We had already begun to defend deeply again and we now under the cosh. However, we dealt well with the challenge despite being a man down. Warren and Foley came on for Waters and White. A minute later, in the 84th minute, a ball into the area by Norman gave Kavanagh a shot on goal, Farman doing well to block.

Evans then replaced Charsley for Newport as five minutes of added time was announced. In the 95th minute, a harsh free kick was awarded 20 yards out by the right touchline. Lewis's free kick was headed out, but Lewis’s delivery from the resultant corner gave Demetriou a free header to send the Bluebirds to defeat right at the final whistle.

Attendance 2,804 including 95 visiting fans. Canavan was awarded Barrow’s man of the match.

We don’t look like scoring and the football today was far away from the high paced pressing game of early season.
"To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.

Absolute dross. Bad decision by the referee absolutely no way a red card from what I saw, but even still second half was dire. Took garner off when imo should have been waters, midfield seriously lacking and Bennett came on and is either not interested or after five mins looked knackered. How many times we play a good move forward, look threatening, and then end up kicking ball back to half way line, or receive the ball and either don’t know what the hell to do with it or lack of passing options. Our good start will see is ok this season but cannot keep serving up that dross.
everyone is entitled to their opinion, deal with it

Hope the barrow fans abusing players are proud of themselves. Farman made some great stops and he does not deserve them nasty words.

Refereeing aside:

Had a good spell in the first half. Garner looked lively and we got shots on target.

Apart from that, poor. Bad touches, wayward passes and a lot of aerial balls. Poor defending cost us again. Yes, we should've had 11 on the pitch but we need to be seeing that out for a point. Don't understand why Farman was getting dug out. He kept us in it with some top saves.

Do not understand why we're persisting with Bennett. As much as I'd love him to do well, he just doesn't offer anything. Weak on the ball, poor in the air and doesn't look like offering a goal scoring threat.

Agree about the holding midfielders. As much ratting about as white and Neal do (and do well), they aren't going to create much going forward. We don't have that player who's going to put a foot on it and control things. Dare I say it (I'm not a resign old players kind) since Rooney.

Time to give Garner or Young a chance up top? Garner in particular looks the most likely to work the keeper lately.

Absolutely do not understand anyone shouting abuse at Bennett , Farman or anyone for that matter. We can all be frustrated but what the hell is digging out players during the game going to achieve? Support, encourage and lift them. Vent on here afterwards if needs be.
We hate Carlisle United, we hate Workington too (and Morecambe), we hate Accrington Stanley but Barrow we love you :scarf:
