Surely they could be named with trialist in brackets after their name so at least the non-paying supporters would have a clue who they are watching.Are they out of contract players being looked at with a view to covering the current injury crisis? I find myself surprisingly slightly emotional about this. I’m one of those whose childhood was very much centred around HS in the 60s. So I did see those games back in the day against the likes of Man Utd, Blackburn and a much more experienced Burnley.

So despite the competition being devalued more times than the Zimbabwean currency it still has a silly sentimental place in my soul.

It also begs a very important question. Do we actually have anything that vaguely resembles a trophy cabinet at the club?

Enjoyed this afternoon. Similar thoughts here SB. A couple of questions for the historians: 1 Is that the first time the Final of this Cup has been played at Holker St?; 2 Was the last time we won this in 1955 against Oldham?; 3 Was that a proxy modern cup presented today, the original on the Lancashire FA website looks like one of the grandest cups in the English game, can we have that at Holker St?. Finally I beg to differ with those folks who think this is pointless, how far do you take that view into amateur games etc. Of course we know the League is where the money and our future is, but all Sport matters to those who participate.

So let me get a bit geeky here.

We've now won 2 Lancs Cups that other one was in 1955 beating Oldham 2-0 in front of 6,110 at Holker St
Our defeats in the final are as follows:-
1952 Burnley 1-0 at Holker St attendance 10,516!!!
1966 Burnley 4-0 again at Holker St attendance 7,158
1967 Oldham 2-0 at Oldham
1970 Burnley 3-2 at Burnley
2023 Burnley on pens at the County ground Preston

So fifth time lucky against Burnley in a final & quite some crowds at Holker St in the 50's & 60's.
