We don't need a keeper who throws the ball into his own net. Get rid.
Keep the other two keepers.
Swap the short arsed players for big nasty buggers.
No crocks or old players looking for a last pay day.

Stanway- take the option on his contract. Might get offers for him but can’t let him go on a free.
Barrett
Raglan
MJ- as a midfielder
McCann- think he’s the one who might get offers.

Wouldn’t trust any of the rest- shown they are gutless. The hype with Whitfield baffles me. Not been the same player in his second and third stint. Granted played out of position this season but not for me next year.

The whole 'get shot of the lot the them' thing is understandable, but a bit daft since many are contracted, plus we can't really start the season with zero players.

Stanway was promising but probably needed another season as a no. 2. Too many howlers this season though - and too much bad feeling now - so keep Winterbottom and Barrett, and try to get a few quid for him. The defence needs a total rebuild. Keep Williams. And could Foley still play? Smith could do a job in the NL. Fletcher, Whitfield (played in the right position), Barkhuizen maybe. McCann will probably go but might be worth keeping. Keep Rose. Try to secure Gordon.

Agree that Stanway has made too many mistakes.
Smith couldn't do a job in the West Lancashire League
I wouldn't waste money on Gordon either. He might fun around a lot but the penalty said everything about his ability to score goals
Raglan will do a good job in the NL, as he did with Oldham.

I know we may have little choice. Most important we have an experienced manager in, NOT COUGHLAN.

Who is deciding/ advising the retained list? No one local, there is zero evidence the experience is there or was...get someone good in for that specifically if necessary.

I know we need to keep the basis of a squad, and it’s a balance between how many games played, which is an indicator of their fitness and consistency against their overall rating for their position. So for me, anyone who was contracted from the start of the season but has played less than 30 games is not giving what we need, no matter how good they may be in cameo appearances. So on that basis, would be my retained list- stats from “whoscored.com”

Stanway. 42 games this season. MoM in 2 games. Still our best prospect for a fee, Unfairly singled out for some criticism when all around him have been poor.

Charlie Raglan- 32 games, MoM in 2 games, 73% pass completion and overall highest rating season performer according to Opta on 7.04, but very little creatively only one assist in 32 games,

Danny Rose- only 17 games but 1526 minutes on pitch, MoM in 2 games. 4 goals and our second best overall performer, based on overall contribution, Opta 6.82

Ben Jackson, 39 games, 3389 minutes. Consistently plays games. Second only to Stanway for appearances. Doesnt make enough defensive tackles, but statistically has put in most crosses. Are we using him in the right position?

Charlie McCann, 30 games, 2747 mins, 5 goals from midfield, 75% pass completion. Most tackles per game average. 6.78 match performance ratings in Opta.

Not sure / Fitness dependent
- Isaac Fletcher, 16 games so has been battling injuries. MoM 2 games. 7 goals though and second only to Josh Gordon in getting shots away per game. If he can stay fit deffo a good player to have.
MJ Williams- 25 games and best position has been CM wheres he’s played 11, but can do job as a central defender when needed. We gonna need players who can play in other areas, plus he’s a senior squad player.
Gordon- not our player
Cameron? Done well on loan, will he want to stay and try again in National League

The rest haven't showed enough, consistently enough. Never seen a team so poor at attacking corners, we had scored one pen all season and barely won any freekicks in dangerous areas. There is a lot to do for the next Manager

Looking at MoM awards? For about half the matches (minimum) it has been a sick joke giving it to anybody at all! And remember, it's given by somebody who has been on free ale all afternoon.
Jackson might put in 100 crosses but 90 of them go over every player on the pitch. I call him Mr 110% because he hits the ball way harder than he should be doing.

Agree with this Steve. Huge changes are needed. An experienced manager, who knows what is needed, in total control. Given TIME!

We’ve all had a pop at who we need to keep. That’s as close to what I’ve got as I’ve seen. Barrett too as a backup keeper. Unsure about Newby. It’s whether his strengths outweigh his weaknesses. I wouldn’t be fussed if he went.

Ultimately, the injury front this season has been absolutely farcical. Almost every player has had a spell being out. Some for weeks. Some for months. Some for half a year. We cannot carry anyone next season. Injuries happen, yes, but it appears we’ve had a squad full of crocks. That cannot be brought forward.

You can’t have a settled team with injury prone players.

Far comments on MoM

but these are in game player stats. That’s all there is to go off. There is no one that really shines through in the squad. We finished bottom for that very reason

Exactly. Yes any player can sustain a bad injury. But we have had a lot of players that are injury prone or breaking down- and that includes Fletcher, Williams and sadly Whitfield who has been hampered by injury half of the time he’s been back here . We’ve got no reserve team for these players to get back to match fitness.

Jackson has been one of, if not the biggest let down IMO, hes been so so bad for well over a season. Id be looking to try tempt the cumbrian Cafu back! Like nite and day watching those 2
