From what I recall, it was the club who revealed what he had supposedly said. They wouldn't be the first club to be economical with the true during contract discussions.
From http://www.nwemail.co.uk/sport/barrow-a ... 63e7db4-ds
Chairman Paul Casson and manager Paul Cox met the 25-goal striker after his two goals helped Barrow beat Wrexham on Saturday, when Cook indicated that his preferred option is to try to pursue a career in the Football League.
Cook has also indicated that he would not wish to move to a National League club other than Barrow.

Seems pretty clear that he was leaving straight after he got the offer from Casson and at the time expected a football league club to come in with a decent offer so when none did and Tranmere were interested has signed up with them, presumably making them aware what we'd offered in the discussions with them? Clubs would have been making offers to players to get them signed up on pre-contract agreements for next season now, even though the season and contracts haven't quite finished yet.

I agree, sure the money could be better spent elsewhere but we keep on getting linked with him

It just seems like hes peaked and he turns 32 next week. Sounds like it would be a dear do.

According to you he had signed a 2 year contract after the Wrexham game?
His pen ran out and refused to use a different one. He likes his tesco value ones.

Agree! The word CU*T springs to mind.
Thanks for the goals, Andy.

He's put something on twitter stating he never guaranteed he would remain at Barrow if no FL clubs came in for him. So he hasn't lied has he, people spouting abuse off at him though here like above or on social media are pretty out of order IMO. No need.

Or...he's lied twice. Then, and now. But I don't know...there are only a few people who DO know.

Yeah let’s show a bit of class and fairness.

The lad ran his guts out for us every game and you couldn’t have asked for more from him. I doubt many of us are still in the same job we started after we left school and most of us would have moved on for financial gain – it’s the way life works. Let’s accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative. Good Luck Andy and thanks for your great contribution to our football club.

I doubt many of us play professional football for a living.

Andy Cook has always given 100% for BarrowAFC. If the lad has had a better offer from another club then good luck to him. He travelled by train from the NE to training before he could drive, not an easy journey. Lived in digs with Boysey and James Owen for a season!!!
Come on people show some respect.....
Best of luck Cooky.

James Owen never lived in digs. He was with Andy Ferrell and Boysey.

I wasn't interested in the post other than to put the record straight. He's gone and that's it.

I don't wish good luck to any players in the same league as us apart from our own players. Thank you for the service and for the goals.

I hope playing for a Big club is a better experience for him than the last time he played for a big club. I don't wish him any harm.

Players come and go as do managers and owners hopefully the one constant is us fans.
