not a released by other teams post - but increasing rumours on the Chesterfield fans forum that Ollie Banks was at the club on Friday night and will be signing for them this coming week.

Just my opinion but this lad Darren Oldaker they have just signed from Dorking could be mistaken for Olley from a distance possibly closer to what he looked like when he last played for Chesterfield.

i did think that - but most of the posts on the Ollie Banks thread on the Chesterfield site have been posted since that guy was announced.

Tyrell Warren a right back has left Halifax - played 41 times for them last season. 23 years old and 6' tall. He was a youth team player at Man United when our assistant manager was there - so both Manager amd assistant know him. might be a target?

Well, we've signed two players who might turn out to be good enough for this league-there again they might turn out to be not good enough for this league.
I would say that whoever else it is that Wildy signs, really 'has' to be good enough for this league, or it could be third time unlucky in more ways than one.

On a similar theme I’ve been glad to hear we’ve turned down two possible signings as they came and asked for ridiculous wages; last two years we’d have probably just said yes and wasted yet more money

Just don't take them on later when they lower their demands as no other club is prepared to pay either.

Chesterfield fans seem pretty convinced Banks is going there.
Any chance we can just rename this thread to a generic Transfer Rumours thread?

In February 2022, Ollie Banks signed a new contract to stay at BAFC for 2.5 years, therefore I would expect Chesterfield would have to pat a transfer fee. Unless of course the club want him out.

Well if it is true they probably do want him out. Or Ollie has given the club the finger.
Anybody else think that rewarding a guy with a new 2.5 contract as well as confirming him as club captain to only then drop him whilst publicly identifying him as a weak leader is not exactly an example of top class man management?

A Cooper classic.
Hope Banks rumours are wrong and he stays.

I think it would depend on just 'who' publicly identified him as a weak leader. If it was Cooper then there should be no further problems should there!. That is of course unless it is ollie who has a beef with something or, someone still at the club.
