I have pictures of the HS terrace with 1000 Darlington fans on there and they stretched across two thirds of the terrace at the most, even with the large gap for the segregated area. If this terrace was spanned with a free span king truss roof (no load on the terrace), barriers put in like the Pop side and the garage corner turnstile re established, that would probably be close to a a 2000 capacity terrace, maybe more, if including the run offs to the pops side and main stand side.
Go on then. DO IT. Pointless.
I don't think I can manage it on my own, I could do with a hand. What are you like with lifting 80m free span trusses.
Still searching for the Young Soul Rebels

Perhaps the owner would consider matching the fans for every £1 raised? This would certainly be a great motivator and a great opportunity to close the current gaping hole between the club and fans?

I'd be more inclined to see if the new floodlights are raised first.

That will be a big statement of intent was told at work today that the cost of the redevelopment of Holker St is out of Casson`s deep pockets and is not prepared to pay that much was surprised by the final cost

The whole ground redevelopment or just the floodlights? I think you mean the former. If so - a bitter blow for the fans.

And I got told today by a club source that its still up in the air as to whether they re-furbish the existing floodlight towers or replace them with brand new poles or whatever.

Well, according to the EM link from this thread, they've been condemned by a structural survey and are being replaced.

This whole thing suggests to me that we will not be moving anywhere.. With the amount of money being invested in the lights, it would not make sense at all to do this if there is thoughts of moving within 5 - 10 years?

Just hope that whatever goes up is done quick, looks good and does its job!

I have a hacksaw and a ladder if anyone wants to help me star cutting the originals down?
