He hasn't a clue what goes on, as valid as some of his points are he'll ALWAYS find a reason to have a dig at the big stories without actually stopping to think about the hundreds of things that go into running a club like this....from a door needing a lock replacing to organising events to floodlights being replaced.....
But then again, the club only look at throwing stupid money at players don't they? and that is apparently all the officials, owner, employee's, volunteers & manager do.
And to mention PC in the same post as Vaughan as he did is very poor form.
If you read it I suggest they aren't the same.
My issue is with people saying things like " We do what we have to do to get out of this league high wages whatever" why do we? We are in the conference which is the highest a lot will ever have seen us in their lifetime including me. Nothing wrong with sustaining our position for a couple more seasons.
And again, I'm not being negative, just suggesting that throwing huge amounts of PCs money at players who won't be here in 2 years time isn't the best thing to do and maybe look at long term structures, but as you say I don't know what goes on at the club, usually because its closed down most summers, or is it open this year?

There are plenty of views as to what is or isn't being done right with the club, but seriously........your talking about the best part of two decades ago!!!
And Vaughan's family weren't involved with running the club.
Bit of an insult to Paul Casson being mentioned in the same breath as Steven Vaughan.
Indeed. One is a convicted criminal and the other is a legitimate business man!

Of course it'll be some peoples opinion to throw daft money at players to get us out of this league, that probably comes with the excitement & expectation of having an owner who seems able to do that. I happen to agree with you that it would be wrong, my personal opinion is we need to learn a few things before we're ready for anything like the FL.
The thing that's annoying is the way you keep trotting out them same lines about "short memories" "how we all hated the money teams" "stupidity to throw daft money around" when it's only a small minority who your getting at, it's not like a post or two of caution then something good happens so you comment on that....it's just highlighting what you perceive as what the club is doing wrong all the time - there's very rarely a balance. Even your last sentence above is a dig - give with one hand, take away with the other!
Seriously, next time your in Barrow for a few days, spend a few hours down there chatting to people in the club (they might try and give you a job though) and you'll see what actually goes on, as Charlie said earlier when he went down for a short time and he saw for himself just what is happening on a daily basis.
As I say, you make some very good points but it needs a balance....surely.

So was Parkin going to be the next marquee signing or is someone else due?

I understand he became the first Barrovian to captain his country at association football.

Captain his country what did that do for Barrow or Barrow AFC when in trouble.
Another one of Willie Horne would have been better the number of things he did to help the local people is something to celebrate.

The statue wasn't commissioned by Barrow AFC and has nothing to do with the club
There is a statue of Willie Horne

To even mention Vaughan in the same sentence as Casson is wrong. I am surprised the scumbag is still alive after using the club to rinse his dirty money and pump the town full of narcotics.the amount of heartbreak this scumbag has caused decent people I hope he passes on soon as in vaughan

What's Emlyn Hughes, statues of Willie Horne and Vaughan got to do with prospective signings?

Thought the next marquee signing was going to be the beer tent outside the Crossbar?

You did just mention them both in the same sentence.

What did the people of barrow do a few seasons ago when we were bottom of conference north with gates just above 500? infact were you there or have you just got on the bandwagon?
One thing he did do was to talk to the players before the trophy final in 1990,I think you should give people a bit more respect!

My understanding was that Crazy Horse was actually refused a trial with Barrow afc in 1964/5 which was my first ever season watching the Bluebirds and arguably one the worst in the sides history (even more so than 70/71). He was considered too lanky and not well enough co-ordinated. So he went to Blackpool instead. Hardly a case of him turning his back on the club. More representative of the rather amateurish style of management during the early 60's.
If he'd have played a season at HS we'd have treated him like the messiah. Don't know where this myth came from that Emlyn didn't give a toss about the football club. He was in fact an enthusiast of all things Barrovian.

If we are on to the Emlyn Hughes debate and daftness comparing Vaughan with PC we might as well lock the thread.
Whilst I'm too uncomfortable with silly money, from speaking to people involved in spending it, it seems that while there might be more around, it is spread much more wisely than under Edmo. You can only decide whether or not from speaking to someone you believe them or not. In this case I do.
I still think Rhead will end up here.
