Floodlights Update

So we have installed new floodlights and they don't meet league 2 requirements? Why am I not surprised?

Is it due to cost of the usual poor management,?

In answer to above questions/queries.

The club applied for 500 Lux (which is what is needed for up to Championship level) but the funding group put a cap on 250 Lux which is the current ground level and what is needed for NL football. The club argued that we were aiming higher than that level of lighting and we managed to get it upped to 350 Lux.

The cabling and electrical works installed can take 550 Lux, the masts and arrays are capable of being upgraded in the future by simply adding additional fittings/bulbs etc.

As far as I know there were no complaints from local residents.

Spirit, do we know if there's a delay in removing the old floodlights - the cross bar/Wilkie rd one was taken down on Monday, but the other 2 at Holker st end still remain.

BARROW'S skyline has a different look about it as three of its most distinctive structures from the past 50 years are being brought down.

Work started at Holker Street on Monday morning to bring down a trio of floodlight pylons which have graced the ground since 1963.

“They are thinking they will get all three done today, but given the difficulty of access with the two at the Holker Street End, if they were to bring one of the two down today, then that would be a pretty good job. Then they would get the last one down tomorrow.

They should be able to take the popular side pylon down from the taxi bay, but not necessarily the other one.

"Once the pylons are removed, the club will work on tidying up the areas where they all stood, and fans will be able to stand in their footprints.

The new lights, which were completed last week and partially tested on Friday night, will be utilised for the first time in Barrow's home match against Guiseley on Tuesday, September 12.

There's been a delay with the final two being taken down Paul, the floodlight company will update the club on a timescale early next week.

The new ones are fully up and running and will be used on Tuesday.

If permissions were/are now needed, I would assume that is the responsibility of the contractors, not the Club.

If certain people actually took time to read this thread properly they would see a post from Spirit of 1990 on page 17 that explains about the lighting - and it's nothing to do with the council either.. Pedro - you should know better - you actually posted on the same page so can't help but have seen the post

I am sorry the club new last year that they would need permission to Close the road so if that is the case they should off done it therein then and now to say it is the light company that should off done it is a lot off shit again from the club

The club haven't really said anything other than Ian saying there is a delay and will be advised early next week - maybe the contractor had another job to do or it could be access problems who knows.
