(really yea) we visited scotland for three days ... watched a match.. Played a match..(3-3 ) stayed at our opponents houses.. and then visited Celtics Ground a week after they won European cup and we were allowed to hold the european cup in their trophy room. I remember Mr McClusky having gone to the Sacred Heart up until 1965.We used to walk from school to the old park football pitch where the artificial pitches are now opposite the leisure centre and having to get changed in the hut there and after the game having to walk home in your muddy football gear as there were no washing facilities.
Those were the days

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Great attacking full back. Still with us.

Question for ant:
I was in the Sacred Heart Football Team throughout my school years coached by 'Clucker'
I can't remember the team visiting Scotland so I assume it was a bit before my time. Can you name any players of that 1967 side?

And for the benefit of Villa fans who are curious to know about famous players from our town please see below a Barrow Grammar School 1974-75 Under-12 team photo below, featuring (front left) a very young Gary Stevens, who went on to fame with Everton, Rangers and England. It's easy to tell it's him!
