Delighted to say next weeks episode of the Barrow Social will be dedicated to the work of the GMV volunteers

We will be recording Sunday at Holker street looking back on the amazing work which has been done over the years they have been in operation

If you have any questions that you maybe want answering by the volunteered panel then email them to me Adam.johnson@bbc.co.uk

First part of the delivery of timber & materials for the players families toilets and baby changing facilities. The second much bigger delivery which will be for the players families new extension to the existing room will arrive in a few weeks when we have space available.

You couldn’t have made it up, the timber gets dropped off…..the rain came down in biblical proportions. We finish storing it…..the sun comes out!

Anyway, it’s done and the work starts weekend.

Another great listen Adam. Highlighting the work the GMV do is important, as most of us won’t have any idea of how much they do and how valuable it is to the club.

Well done all👏 But one fundamental question wasn’t asked!
🤔 Whilst on the GMV bus travels, where has the best Toby Carvery in the country been so far.
Also have they ever been approached for sponsorship?

Not sure they would go for sponsorship as to my knowledge there is no Toby Carvery in this area.

Oh is that how sponsorship works in your head, Local deals for local people.
Must be about 100 clubs or perhaps more in the country in football alone getting it wrong then😳

It's how it works in the heads of the sponsors, who look at the return they will get from their money. With very few Toby Carvery pubs in South Cumbria you might struggle a bit but why don't you contact them to see if they will play ball - football of course! :D

Many sponsors have local ties but not all.
Probably not my place to do so as it may affect future major deals but I have made contact all be it a generic drop down application with a box to fill in. Hopefully I don’t get carved up for this 😳
If you don’t ask in life you invariably don’t get👌

Shall pass on any positive response to Ian.

Another project funded by The NSC. This is the HSE/garage corner. Probably the worst entrance/exit in the ground, not the finished job but well on its way. The turnstiles at the top of the steps will also be upgraded thanks again to the NSC.

A job that definitely needed doing- and especially before the Dave Day event. Here’s a before and after of the work done by young Connor on his first visit helping us out.

Once again a huge thanks to all our main sponsors (top of this page) and the many many more who continue to donate through DDs, cheques appearing from the UK to Australia or people simply passing us cash on match days. As we’ve always said, without these donations we simply couldn’t take on these projects and the club would have about thirty + litter pickers!

Edit….and literally as I wrote the above I’ve just been informed we have another cheque at the club for us off “Hindpool Bluebirds”

Amazing, thank you whoever Hindpool Bluebirds are.

Are the details available anywhere so that donations can be made to the GMV either by bank transfer, cheque etc
Many Thanks

Hiya Green Bluebird, you can either use this which is what we use for our away trips and donations or if a cheque is better then that can be sent to/dropped off at the club addressed to the GMV or me. Both are fine.

Thank you very much, very kind of you.
