We weren't fantastic, but it was very very important for us to get through today and thats what matters. It was pretty tight with not a lot in it, but I think we just wanted it more than them. As for our second goal, the Tamworth keeper continuously came up as far as the half-way line whenever they had a free kick or corner. Christ knows what he was doing as he was always running the risk of something like that happening, I'd be fuming with him if I were a Tamworth fan.

Tamworth were a horrible, niggly side who seemed more interested in that than trying to win the game. Ultimately that helped cost them the game, number 2 was laughable and Almond had the beating of him time and again.

Better crowd too, and with a bit of bite in the game it actually felt entertaing so hopefully some will come back.

Morecambe away or the lowest side left in it at home please!

Extra pressure going into the game with the prize money but we dealt with it very well and I thought that was our most determined performance at home this season against an evenly matched side. We battled hard all over the pitch and the back 4 worked extremely hard to protect Hurst. Few hesitant moments clearing the lines but best games so far from Flynn and Pearson, thought Hessey played very well and Anderson is getting better and better. When called upon Danny Hurst was solid and made a couple of great saves, one when he turned a great Lee Hendrie effort around the post when it was 1-0. That goes in and Tamworth are right back in it. I think Hurst was announced as Man of the Match.

But again- the two up front- Boyes and Almond are where we really do have outstanding talent. Fantastic players.

Thought the crowd were good today and really got behind the players. Any home draw and get a good crowd in.

The old adage "there's no substitute for class" was borne out today. For me, both Almond and Harvey were hardly in the game until Harvey's incisive through ball led to the Almond goal. As soon as it arrived at Almond's feet in space you just knew a goal was coming. It's not often you can have that sense of certainty when a Barrow player is about to shoot from 20 yards out.

For me, Anderson was MOTM. Very impressive. Hurst's save was one of the best I've seen at Holker Street and it perhaps won the match for us because at 1-0 they were pinning us back (and/or we were dropping back) and a goal was looking likely for them. Very pleased that Boyes got his gift, partly courtesy of their Continentalesque keeper; after the strange malaise over the final third of last season (from almost all players, not just Boyes) it's good to see his quality and work-rate back up to top notch this season.

Well deserved win today Barrow are back! as soon as we got their fullbacks turning back towards their own goal i felt a goal would come. Back five for me were terrific not giving an inch. Its great when oppo teams wind up the crowd as it then spurs Barrow on more.Almond deserved his applause when he was subbed. Keep this level up and the crowds will swell even further.A money spinner in the next round please.

Very well deserved win. Tamworth came with positive thoughts but as soon as we got to grips with their lanky lets-fall-over-all-time number 7 and squeezed this "formidable" striker to elbows and other nasties, we were never going to be beaten. Tamworth skipper had a mare against Almond and really should have been given a straight red by a somewhat bemused Referee.
Whole team played really well. Back 4 was outstanding. Hurst dominated from goal [he is back] and his save from a free kick in the second was worth the entrance fee alone. So stunning that even some [yes only some] of the Tamworth payers applauded the outstandingness and quality of assurance shown.
Boyes ran his socks off and got his just reward even if he got a wee bit excited with the open goal. When Almond was put through there was only one place that ball was going to end up.
A fair match in most respects but Tamworth are not the cleanest of teams to visit us. They are in a somewhat false league position as well.
All we can ask is for a home draw in the next 2 rounds before beginning our journey to Old Trafford [ ]. Watch out Sir Alex the Bluebirds are flying.

Job done, not best performance but a win nevertheless.

Their keeper obviously has aspirations to be an outfield player, always wanting to get out of his goals, more like an extra defender, but he paid the price in the end.

Q: Does Almond change his boots every half time due to superstition?

Just watched highlights via link on Barrow AFC web page. One minute twenty two seconds of which nineteen seconds consist of people shaking hands, leaving one minute three seconds of action. Now I know it might not have been the greatest game of football ever seen, but even so, shaking hands. Why the [swear filter edited by mod] is people shaking hands considered highlights? I seem to recall one or two tasty saves by Hurst, but no sign of them on the highlights.

I've thought the same for weeks but didn't want to say anything because having any highlights at all is progress.

We had over 3 mins of highlights for the most uneventful, boring game of the season against Dartford yet only 1 min 20 for yesterday when there was several other incidents that could have been shown. They are only being uploaded to youtube so I see no reason why we can't have longer highlights. If there are no other highlights to show then just show the goals, but in games that are more incident packed then why not show more??
