It really isn't hard for Christ sake, I run my own business, yes smaller I accept but similar issues especially the last 4/5years. What you do is deal with them and plan.

Also on the gov body of a couple of schools, so I know a little bit about budget setting, staffing, h&s, etc, etc. Not to mention outside meddling and constant goalpost changing by governments nationally and locally. Imo many more issues than running a football club entails, not to mention bigger budgets and even bigger balancing acts, whilst still meeting and exceding expectationsof government/councils, anyone who is or has been involved in schools will tell you how hard that is.

This smacks of lack of teamwork, tasking, delegation and poor communication, a bit like the bod acting as the senior leadership team and never informing the governors of any issues which they could help with, just sub governors for fans.

Ill say it again, imo it really isn't that hard.
Education should be public not private, it should be open, accountable and answerable to all the community, pupils and parents.

Who's job is it to maximise current revenue streams, and to open up new ones?

Strange that was was on here and on The Stockport forum mid afternoon!
The "NOT YET" article 'appeared' on our site at 5pm on Thursday. I'd hope the paperwork would have been sent off before it was uploaded.

We don't have anyone doing that because to have a chief exec or commercial manager costs money which we don't have but in the long run not having someone running things properly costs you more in my opinion.

But I do agree with what Reg says we all need to try and pull together now but I find it difficult to trust this board now.

It never officially went onto the site. What was on here was taken from Twitter. How it got there nobody seems to know.

The info I was referring to was the news that the deal would not be going through.

On both occasions I thought Keen pretty much stated that the situation is under control and will be sorted (which is a steady ship is it not?). He said we get it sorted on Monday, then we get the player, I hope it is that simple. :?

I think the club were hoping they could deal with this without it becoming public. When a transfer embargo is mentioned in it usually because a club is not paying it's players (or someone else). It could scar away potential signings. Very damaging stuff when it could possibly be dealt with quietly. I wonder if it had remained behind closed doors and we knew nothing about it, would it be brought up at the AGM?
Bingo wrote:why don't they budget then i pay my mortgage on the 4th of the month i don't wait until the 3rd to try and find the money. ... I do not believe we have a bottom of the league budget - i would say being full time is killing is tho.
Football clubs do seem to have a way of evading paying till the last possible moment, Barrow are not the only one it's rife in football. They are after all traditionally loss making enterprises and most have to be propped up. We have lost a lot of fixtures to the weather (and the constantly rearranged FA cup games) and we of course have little coming till the end of this month. As mentioned on BBC RC we have other income but it does not come in at the rate to cover for the lost games, I suppose until those games are played we are going to be short.

Not sure what the budget is but you could be right and I think your right that full time is killing us, on our current gates at least. Not sure what the solution to that is. :(

The quicker we get out of this graveyard league the better we will be.its been the ruin of many a club .And soon it will be the ruin of us. I would rather have a team playing in conf north than none at all we had such fun times then.

It's the boards job to appoint someone who can do that job.

However, you cannot get blood out of a stone.

There is no money in the area.

The cold hard fact is that right now, Barrow as a town is not in a position to support a club in the BSP.

IMO, we shouldn't have ever spent more than we could reasonably afford in an attempt to stay in this division. It was a recipe for disaster but I was in a very small minority and most people IIRC seemed to advocate overspending so those that did, have no right to criticise the BOD for the current predicament IMO.

As I said earlier though, now really isn't the time for wasting energy on finding people to blame. The BOD are currently the only people in a position to turn things around and they can't do it without our help.

Work with them to get out of the mess and then replace them if needs be but supporters need to get real too. We're a solid BSN sized club, who with a decent long term plan is right to have ambitions to play in the BSP but if we keep building on sand, like we tried to do after promotion and the cup successes, eventually we're sure to cave in. If I could have a free hand to do what I wanted, I might be dead before the fruits of my plans could be enjoyed but in the meantime, at least we'd still have a club to support.

BBC RC said earlier that it WAS on the site. Was it? Was it up at sometime by mistake and then taken down, but still there and someone linked to it off twitter? What I saw yesterday (Friday) was not on the official site itself but was obviously on the server ready to go (with the NOT YET) or we would not have been able to read it via the direct link.

If the club had have been responsive to my offers of voluntarily taking on marketing responsibility 18 months ago, I could have quickly put together a small team of volunteers, and we could have boosted revenue to the point where, at least, one of us was being paid a small wage.

The same goes for all other arms of the business. We have no shortage of skills amongst the hardcore, and they've been squandered. Sadly, Brian Keen runs the club like a family business, and doesn't want to let anyone other than his family and friends in.

I don't disagree with that. That's why, in my opinion, we need to snap out of the Hindpool Athletic mentality. Every other club in this division has a 25-35mile catchment area, that they target when it comes to player recruitment, ticket sales, community work etc.

I read it on a www.barrowafc.com webpage that I clicked through to from a tweet from the club's official Twitter account. I've no idea whether it was linked to from anywhere else on www.barrowafc.com but I think we're splitting hairs if we're worrying about that.

It's still there: http://www.barrowafc.com/news/?article= ... um=twitter

I assume it has been put on the sever ready to go and the twitter account is automatic (hence always spelling official wrong) and it has posted the link without it being published on the website
