The 2-2 draw was in september 1982. I don't think it was a testimonial but something to do with HMS Manchester. One of the best games I have ever seen at Holker street. One of the best ever Barrow teams - highest non league position [8th in Conference] managed by Micky Taylor.
Crowd was around 3500. Main memories are an outstanding display by Micky Richmond as attacking full back and City had a black goalie, Williams I think his name was.

Richmond scored a peach too - absolutely rifled, right-footed from the corner of the box into the far top corner, passing over the keeper's outstretched right arm like a missile - the Steelworks End.
And we were actually winning two-one until Tueart (quite rightly mentioned earlier) chipped a slow-motion 20 yarder at the Holker St end with 5 minutes left to quieten everyone a bit.
And yes, it was Alex Williams in nets, Corrigan being virtually the only omission from their full-strength side, very similar to the '81 Cup Final eleven who lost to Spurs in a replay (Ricky Villa and all that). So I'm pretty sure Kevin Reeves played in this game - and he was one of your very few £1m-plus footballers at the time.
