I come on here pretty much every day and never post, but just felt a bit sad about it all to be honest. I like Dave Bayliss, and protesting just doesn't feel right (but we're all entitled to our opinions). Agree with some of the more recent posts on this thread. Can't imagine what it's like having people slagging you off all the time, offensive or not. People who pay their hard-earned cash to attend have a right to their views, and most of it is fairly tame, standard, predictable stuff when a team isn't performing (and hasn't done for a long time). But I still don't know how I'd react as manager if I kept hearing it all the time, especially if my livelihood depended on the job. That must really add to the pressure. Not saying he was right to react like that, because obviously he wasn't, but can understand how the pressure and frustration must have been building so much when he can see how things are going and doesn't seem able to sort it out. I just can't get outraged or offended that he swore to be honest, because I've sworn at people myself (but not on Radio Cumbria). But it's obvious he's not handling all this added pressure now and managers just can't afford to lash out, unless they are top of the league! Or Brian Clough.

The guy cares so much, and has done so much (with or with Sheridan) and I thought it was right to keep him as manager this season, because I don't think sacking managers every season is a great idea - especially when you consider the resources he's had in the conference compared with most other clubs. We were always going to go down eventually. But, for the first time I do think it might be time for a change - as much for his sake as for the club. Don't agree with people who say he should be able to take the abuse, although I'm probably just naive because I suppose that's the life of a football manager, they pretty much all become 'clueless idiots' in the eyes of the fans eventually, unless they get another job - then they're a Judas! Anyway, can't see how he can turn it around now - you do need the fans on your side - too many people against him after the last couple of seasons/the poor start to this one/this weekend (depending on your view), and barring a 20 game winning streak it's not going to change. Really not having a pop at people who are frustrated/disappointed/upset. I've just still got loads of respect for him for all he has given to the club, and how much he cares about Barrow. I really hope he goes on and has a great career but looks like it's coming to an end here. A real shame.

To be honest, most of that post is a load of codshit. What evidence is there that Bayliss "cares so much" about the club. He was desperate to leave for Macc in the summer, Rochdale before that, but those clubs were never really interested. The only reasons Bayliss hasn't gone of his own accord are that nobody wants him - his track record is awful, as we all know - and his wages are presumably decent and as good as he'll ever get in football management. I assume this is his only source of employment (?) but how many club functions/events/fundraisers/hospital visits has he attended? It was always Jason Walker and one or two community coaches and maybe a random player looking to make a positive impression.

If I was performing in my job as Bayliss is in his, I'd expect to be under pressure. But he can't handle the slightest criticisms, as shown by his many, many fallouts with the press over the years. And this latest series of incidents just shows a man not of sound mind. He also lashed out after the Kettering-Blundell incident, which I seem to recall he offered his resignation then? What's the betting that some of these fallouts with players over the years haven't been the result of violent exchanges in the dressing room or on the training ground? No amount of fan criticism should be an excuse for his aggressive outbursts since he's been with the club. That's even if the abuse is as bad as he claims. To keep trotting out the 'I'm a family man' line when defending his actions too is frankly [SwearFilter]. What kind of family man loses his head every few months when things don't go his way?

But the bottom line is that he should be sacked for football-related reasons alone. Our budget is similar to most clubs in the division, while other clubs have had to build from scratch (Gainsborough included), but the football on offer is pathetic and Bayliss is clearly inept when it comes to signing players and picking a team. Time for a change, long overdue, and anyone still defending Bayliss needs to ask themselves why. I couldn't care less what happens to him after he leaves, only how it leaves Barrow for the rest of the season. There are people who could take the job, and frankly anyone would be able to improve the situation if only down to a change in atmosphere at the club.

540 is a really worrying attendance, means even some of the hardcore 700-800 have decided to stay away, know there was footie on tv but maybe a sign of the apathy surrounding the club at the moment.

So DB is costing the club over £2000 a game on the gate plus wages and expenses? Expect things to get worse as the BoDs continue to let their hearts rule their heads.
