Don't think it would help you as it would only cover Crewe to Coventry at most I think, but London Midland have Great Escape vouchers for £15 that weekend. You might also save a few quid splitting your journey in two or three segments - I know we often save a lot of money out of London doing that as the way rail pricing is done is nuts. We saved about £20-30 each going to Boston this way.

Dont know if i am over reacting probably am but this game could be another Atherstone. Boston found similar crap security last saturday as Richard Ingam has posted.

* No segregation
* Around half a dozen stewards.
* A group of our fans take up residence behind 1 goal. Brackley fans stand right next to them (when there is room for them on either side of the stand where new terracing has been erected), complete with plastic glasses full of ale.
* Said Brackley fans giving our fans the [SwearFilter] signs and trying to stir up trouble. They then go fetch more beer.
* Brackley score, then throw beer all over our fans
* Stewards who have so far not been anywhere near escort a couple of Brackley fans away, but are on first name terms with them. I'm betting they didn't throw them out
* Complaints made to the stewards about the behaviour of their fans is met with them trying to blame our fans

So UCL standard ground and organisation. On the pitch they were much better than us due to (allegedly) the amount of money thrown at them so it's a very tough game for you. Altrincham fans here have had a similar experience of Brackley so not just an isolated incident. The sooner the money runs out and they go back to were they belong the better.

A sizeable Barrow and Brackley following coupled with it being the FA Cup has a potential of another Atherstone.
Hope the board of Barrow put major pressure on Brackley to do a major risk assessment of the the up and coming game.
As i say i hope i am over reacting but if i am i dont really care as long as this time the great Barrow fans safety is looked after.

Hi guys

Really no need to worry about our fans, this "Boston" thing is a massive over reaction. A couple of drinks were thrown, started by Boston fans who stood behind the goal we we shooting against, beating their drum, singing we are all inbreds ect ect. We were actually laughing along with them, and second half we trundled along to the other side of the ground to behind the goal we were shooting at. No flares, no pitch invasions, no police, no punches thrown, nothing! It again is sour grapes by a "big" club, defeated by a "tinpot" team with a sh*t ground who don't deserve to be where we are!

We are a little community club, and welcome away supporters and happily will have a drink with you in the clubhouse before and after the game. Most our fans are elderly, watching from the sidelines, but a group of 20 or so will sing behind the goal, slagging of Banbury (once rivals and nearest town) and generally have a laugh but in no means aggressive whatsoever.

Enjoy your trip down guys, and enjoy our little town, plenty of pubs, friendly locals and a warm welcome awaits,

Basically, our club/supporters need to be asking Brackley what assurances can be given to ensure that the game is properly managed and that there can be no repeat of Atherstone v. Barrow or Brackley v. Boston. They have no excuse about not knowing the potential for trouble. It would be a shame if supporters feel they can't travel because of what happened at these fixtures.

You just have to hope that what happened at Atherstone was a one off. It's made me think twice about travelling to games again - but you can't let it get to you.

I like to go to games where you can change ends at half time, where fans from both sides have a bit of bater with each other and mix before and after the game. (remember Oxford in the cup and the atmosphere at the pub near the ground and fans singing to each other) As long as there is proper stewarding and plans in place if anything does go wrong - you just need to see what happened at Atherstone as an isolated one off.

If they were banging on a drum then you've every right to throw beer at 'em

We've had a few away team supporters turn up and mindlessly pound away on a drum for 90minutes, just kills the atmosphere and should be banned.

I'm not violent - but I so wanted to smash the drum over the head of the annoying little gits at Forest Green Rovers last year, who continuously pounded their drum for the whole of the match. When we asked the steward, he said they had only just started going to matches and weren't even FGR fans.

If you don't support the actual club, don't go. If you want to play a drum, join a band.

Hope your right BF but once bitten, things will have to be in place this time as far as Barrow fans are concerned however slight the risk. Who's to say the Atherstone knuckle dragger's wont turn up for this game, its not that far away after all.

There's no way some cowardly thugs would ever stop me from going to a game to support my team. The same applied at Atherstone when I stood my ground and stayed behind to applaud the team off the field. Don't let those kind of people dictate what you want to do otherwise they have won.

We have travelled for 5/6 seasons and have not come across hostile behaviour like that before. The only incident I can recall when there was any trouble was the promotion season away game at Oxford when some young lads sought revenge for the attacks on their fans when our homegrown wanabee's caused trouble when they played here. It was soon sorted out by the Oxford fans themselves and Tim the landlord of the Priory.
I am going to Brackley, provided the coach is sufficiently supported and we will spread love and goodwill everywhere.
