Re: Barrow v Gainsborough Trinity
Great win, Cook was a handfull and was surprised when he was subbed, Wilson did very well when he came on and took his gosl tremendously well, We wont steamroll teams on a regular basis and people need to realise this pronto.
Fantastic attendance ans well done to the Furness public, keep it up please. Wilson for me must start Saturday showed enough in his few minutes on the pitch to convince me. They had one shot at goal and scored but Barrow really never looked like losing.

Re: Barrow v Gainsborough Trinity
Superb attendance! The 3-5-2 formation doesn't work, we don't have natural wing backs and there is no need for 3 centre backs. I'd hate to be a centre back playing against Cooky, forgotten how much of a handful he is. Cowps had a great game when pushed central rather than on the left

As a bit of a pyrotechnics expert I did not see one flare in holkerr Street tonight.tictactoe wrote:Letting flares off and what looked like pushing stewards - no need
Re: Barrow v Gainsborough Trinity
It was a tough game that -we had been in control straight after the break then 1-1 and we looked a little shaky. So credit for digging in and getting the win. good substitutions.
Stand out players for me were ARH, Cook, Reid and Pilkington.
Crowd was great considering not many away fans are going to travel here on a Tuesday night to boost the numbers

Smoke bomb then I don't know. But it was a cylinder shape and smoke was coming out of it, still stupid to set one off, they know the trouble with the stewards is to follow.boyliegladbach wrote:As a bit of a pyrotechnics expert I did not see one flare in holkerr Street tonight.tictactoe wrote:Letting flares off and what looked like pushing stewards - no need

Didn't appreciate a flare being thrown at me and my mates in the game. It wasn't appropriate to be throwing flares in a football ground at kids or anyone.
On another note great game and a brilliant attendance, hope this continues! :flag:

Tbh Mr expert I don't give a shit what it was but I don't think there is a need for anything like that at a match. We know they are not allowed and if whoever set it off had been caught and thereafter banned no doubt the [SwearFilter] would be still defending them. We all enjoy going to the football and tonights was a great attendance but there's plenty of people lining up to watch us fail or take a pop at us, why give them more ammunition.boyliegladbach wrote:As a bit of a pyrotechnics expert I did not see one flare in holkerr Street tonight.tictactoe wrote:Letting flares off and what looked like pushing stewards - no need
everyone is entitled to their opinion, deal with it
Re: Barrow v Gainsborough Trinity
AN unconvincing but deserved win. DARREN Edmondson will have to have a little rethink for Saturday's match.
AS for the smoke flare and the assault on the crowd marshalls. GROW up.

Good turn out tonight
Not convinced by the 5 at the back (and it was 5, their wingers pushed Cowps and Burns back)
I hope its just teething problems at the minute.
We certainly have the players to mount a promotion push.
I just hope Edmo learns quickly to pick the correct ones in the correct positions.

Re: Barrow v Gainsborough Trinity
Absolutely baffled by some of the comments saying it was unconvincing and a fortunate win! Apart from a goal out of the blue, Gainsborough offered very little and I bet any possession stats would show we absolutely bossed them. Even when it wasn't quite clicking for Barrow they still didn't look in any danger. But for a centre back that was dominating every ball into the box they were rubbish.
Maybe there weren't as many shots on target as we'd hoped, and a few passes astray, but that was about as easy a win I can remember in a couple of years at least.
Can't wait til we actually gel, it's gonna be interesting!

Re: Barrow v Gainsborough Trinity
Said on Saturday we'd play alot worse then we did then and win, and tonight was the first showing of it. Not awful by any stretch of the imagination and we looked comfortable if not clinical and incisive for much of it, but not quite a rounded performance.
Unconvincing for much of the first half, eventually started dominating the second half and were hit with a sucker punch after failing to capitalise on our good spell. Then it all went a bit flat, thankfully benefited from a wonder goal/fluke and then started mullering them a bit, only ever one winner after that. Strange sorta game.
Yet again disappointed with the 5-3-2/3-5-2 formation, just isnt working for us. Our wing backs aren't suited to be wing backs, Burns is an out and out old fashioned full back (and [SwearFilter] good at it) and on tonights showing Cowps is a midfielder! Likewise, we aren't counter attacking teams, nor under the kosh enough to need three centre halfs. All it does is give a space in the team for Robbie Williams, who although being a nice guy, is a woeful footballer and easily our weak link. Can head a ball right enough, but anything or anyone that comes at him below the neck and he's [SwearFilter]. For the first half hour today we were over run in midfield, with far too much space down each flank for balls to be pumped into the box. Grand/Livesey are probably the best centre back partnership at this level, play them as one with two proper full backs and lets try and dominate the midfield more and take the game to teams.
Stand out performances from Alex Ray Harvey, Andy Cook and Niall Cowperthwaite for me (the first two being subbed off in what at the time looked to be dreadful decisions, i suppose vindicated now but the blades were being sharpened at the time), with Reid looking fantastic in flashes and Burns being his solid self. Wilson and Cribley both looked lively and up for it when they came on, both have a point to prove I guess.
Disappointed with Walker and Crowther, though both grew into the game more once we got on top.
Onwards to Saturday! Hopefully a 4-4-2, my preferred pick would be:
McMillan
Burns Livesey Grand Cowps
Reid ARH Cribley (or Shez) Pilkington
Cook Wilson
Hyde got beat again tonight, so will be coming here low on confidence. Lets hope ours is sky high after tonight, and an early goal and fantastic crowd again will see a more convincing win!
As for the smoke, knew when I saw it go off it'd cause a storm in a teacup, not everyones cup of tea (two teacup references in one sentence!) and yes plenty will object which is fair enough but please save the melodrama, it wasn't thrown at anybody, nobody was assaulting stewards (what the [SwearFilter] is a crowd marshall?), it wasn't a flare and it's hardly the end of the world.
Good win
