I will be singing jingle bells until your ears bleed.
Cracking win yesterday a very professional performance all the team played well Harvey and paddy put a good shift in midfield.
Mentions to Macca aswell who made a cracking save and walker who cleared one off the line.
Cook worked hard yesterday and seemed to be getting a lot of stick from the trinity fans he gave it back at full time.
Roll on Gloucester.

Sounded like a good shift from all [on radio] ARH and Lacey being good in midfield. Went off piste a wee bit when they went down to 10 but full credit. Its a win and 3 more points bagged. What a difference a year makes.
We should get good attendance for Boston and hope for 2000+ on NY day.. Any1 from Ulverston need a lift to Fylde Boxing day give me a contact. Have a spare seat.

On a weekend when others were living the FA Cup dream it was back to consolidating our position in the league at Gainsborough Trinity. The game started brightly for our hosts with Stamp blasting an effort wide followed by a Cook effort at our end of the ground there were a couple of other opportunities where the Barrow defence held firm with Burns clearing the threat. It wasn’t long before we started to get a foothold and with Alex Ray Harvey controlling the game the chances were starting to be created, Cook was unlucky on a couple of occasions and Pilkington had a long range effort wide of the mark. It was Andy Cook with the breakthrough we had all hoped for on 21 mins, finishing well after good work by Jamie Ellison. That’s the way it stayed until halftime despite further efforts from Izak Reid and Ellison and our overall dominance.
The second half started with Barrow still in control of the game and the impressing Ellison fired just wide and it wasn’t long before the lead was doubled with Pilkington on the break being brought down just outside the area and from the resulting free kick he beat the Gainsborough keeper to give us a bit of breathing space on 53 mins.

A reckless two footed challenge by Davis on Andy Burns resulted in a sending off for the Gainsborough player and thankfully after treatment the again impressive Burns returned to the action. A reshuffled Gainsborough team now playing with a bit more fire and determination and venom in the tackle started to cause a few problems.
Barrow replaced Ellison with Jason Walker with around 20 mins to go, before Pilkington saw another effort go wide of the post. Johnny Gorman now on for Reid had a free kick punched away by Budtz and Cook blasted another effort wide of the net.
It was now Gainsborough’s turn to have their brightest spell of the match with McMillan pulling off a great save from Davie and this was shortly followed by a blocked clearance close to the line by Walker after the otherwise faultless Paddy Lacey fluffed a clearance inside the box.
Barrow held on and a jubilant Andy Cook really enjoyed his post match celebrations much to the annoyance of some of the Gainsborough supporters.

Excellent team performance very hard to choose MOM.
Thought Ellison played very well considering his lack of match practice.
Agree ARH and Lacey very good in midfield.
Save by McMillan in second half was outstanding.
Don't usually have much success at Northolme so this makes result even better

Good workmanlike performance against a side that are no mugs and tried to play football when they were allowed.
ARH was my MOTM. He energised the midfield which has been noticeably missing in some games. He's started to run straight at defences at speed and its great to see the panic this can cause. Pilkingtons free kick was also better than good it was fabulous. Wrong footed the entire opposition defence and left the keeper rooted on the wrong side of the goal.
Any stattos out there - I think Gainsborough are a pretty good omen for us. As has been mentioned we don't always perform well against them. However I believe that in the last two promotion campaigns we have beaten them home and away?
Funniest moment for me (topping the guy being chased around with a bin on his head by the hapless steward) was the halftime kickabout which ended up with somebody bagging a hole in one into the burger van.

Pilks got booked for what looked like holding the front of his shirt up after he scored to reveal some sort of message but it was harsh as it was just a fleeting thing and he didn't actually remove his shirt. Could have been an R.I.P message as he played the celebrations down.
Sakho did the same this afternoon when he scored for West ham but no card for him.Very strange decision by ref yesterday.

Missed the cup of hot chocolate that I'd only just bought by inches, that one did!

Alex Ray Harvey was without doubt the M.O.M he adds class into the middle of the park with P. Lacey a close second. Although we were never troubled yesterday I felt that once again we failed to press home our advantage. We should have been four up at the break, with the second - half being a formality, a training session allowing the fringe players a run out. There were a number of times in the first half where we needed an extra touch instead of hitting it early, but how can we complain, top of the league in December at this moment in time it cannot get any better

Lifting up your shirt isn't a bookable offence but taking it off is. If the ref booked him for lifting his shirt then it's the wrong decision. Perhaps it was for inciting the home fans? If not, that's probably what the ref will say if he's asked to explain it to his bosses!

Every time we've won the league below Conf Prem, we've won at Gainsborough. We got a draw there when we won the play offs.

The rule was always if the shirt comes above the head it's a yellow. You don't have to take it off as such just lift it above the head so it's covering the face. No idea why that is!!
Another great result!!
What will the whiners and whingers complain about this week?

The shirt did not come over his head. The Gainsborough fans near us thought it was harsh too.
What about players who cover their faces with their shirt after an embarrassing effort on goal? I haven't seen any of those booked and their shirts are raised higher than Pilkington's was.

I always thought it was to do with sponsor exposure, if you're lifting the shirt you're not showing the sponsors, and goals are when the most exposure is given...

Not exactly,
Fabrizio ravanelli made a living of doing this celebration when he scored.
always lifted his shirt over his head and never got booked for it.
Referees dont like messages on shirts.
Can understand if its a political message or a message of hatred/protest but booking people for wishing there mum a happy birthday or saying rest in peace as pilks did saturday is pushing things far too far in my eyes
