A professional footballer knows pre season begins the 1st of July. Doesn't surprise me though, Edmo has a thing for him.

Agree, unless it was exceptional circumstances... early days I know, but looking at our new aquisitions today, I think he could find splinters in his backside this year..

Based on a lacklustre dull defeat to a load of local amateurs?

Enjoyed the game Furness Select absolutely the better team in the first half (could have been 4-0) and second half Barrow shaded it but only just. Barrow's second half possession was pretty at times but there was nothing that was direct or clinical. Some good football was played by both sides was worth a fiver and the long walk from Walney!

Forgot to mention that push on cooky. Any other game red and penalty.
It was actually quite funny

He has more time to get fit than the others before he is needed for a match ;)

Has he actually re-signed ? Seem to remember there were 'hitches' which needed to be ironed out. Judging by his Twitter feed he appears to be in the midst of a world tour (Vegas with Amir Khan swiftly followed by Thailand )

Also on the same forum.

"Wish Dawson would sod off to the League. Fed up of him ripping us to shreds" ---(Chester fan)

Sounds like the ideal replacement for Izak. Over to you Edmo.

is Brad Carroll a right sided defender? He should at least be worth inviting to train with the club (if he isn't already) and given a chance pre-season...

Brad Carroll was probably the best of the local players. Put in some good tackles, defended well and took his goal well.

You shouldn't read too much into friendlies but the signs weren't too great yesterday. We looked very rusty and sluggish and considering this time last year we had most of our squad signed up and inplace, this time I think we're still at least 5 players short of having a team capable of surviving in the conference.

Danny Parslow on paper could be a good signing given his experience at this level, like Ashton.
Adam Dawson looked lively probably our best player on the day and I liked him last time he was here in a struggling team, he's obviously kicked on since then and should be a good signing if we can get him.

I think we need another right back, not entirely sure about Cowperthwaite I think he'll be more of a squad player than a regular there.
Also a central midfielder which we got away with last season, but still think we need someone with range of passing, and a forward possibly two as I'm not convinced by Lewis Guy and neither it seems is Edmondson. A shame that Wilson is going to be out again as I think when fit he's our best forward. Cook looked very heavy yesterday but if he can back to where he was last time in this league for us he'll be a real handful. The full time training will have kicked in by August 8th you would hope....

Brad Carroll stood out head and shoulders above anyone else yesterday. Whether Edmo has had him earmarked as his right back replacement since the end of the season I don't know, but first showing the lad did well!
All our defence seemed unable to deal with the Rakesmoor slope in the first half against a very competitive Furness select side and Tony Callisters tactics proved spot on.

ToCal's Furness side did very well yesterday, can't take anything from them.

I was impressed with the big French midfield lad, kept it simple and got in the way when needed. Early days yet my friends!
