I think the concern was that a ballboy might get hit by a ball/player and then get knocked into the wall.

We've had ballboys in the past, some got hit by balls, players (accidentally of course), got soaked and cold in the rain, but they always came back the following game. Both my sons have been ballboys and thoroughly loved it.

The Cheltnum keeper was complaining to the linesman about the lack of ballboys, I heard him as he strolled to pick up the ball.

Look people, its Barrow AFC. Do we suddenly expect them (regardless of who owns us) to start doing things that WE want. If you watch football on telly there are ball boys AND girls everywhere at games. The ball flies about all over the place with a chance of injury, not only to them, but to fans that sit in the first few rows. Do clubs take away those seats, no, because its bums on seats. Get them back and let the manager tell them when and if to throw the ball back. After all, we would be at home and its up to us.

Ian re ball boys/girls- this is what Stockport Coubty do. We could do the same. What a great way to get young local teams involved and give them a great day out. The supervision would come from their own coaches and that's who look after things on match day. Worth a look-

Re floodlights, Does anyone know who fabricated the newer one it. It's under 10 years old. If the older pylons are not worth saving and he wants to keep a traditional look to the ground then surely the solution is three more of these.

Jonty, the cost of that tower cost an enormous amount of money, from memory it was upward of £200.000. It did of course include mobile control equipment, but never the less very expensive the foundations were immense, probably more than the originals but things have changed.

A lot of things have been said! at the end of the day economics will decie what happens,i don`t believe it`s viable to keep the lights as they are now,people should move on things have changed since 1964(think that`s when they were installed).let`s not drown in nostalgia .

I asked the head steward about another new floodlight like the Asda corner one..he seemed to be under the impression if Another phone mast going on one... For some reason it could only go diagonally opposite or something daft like that.... Not sure if this is true unless someone can elaborate

Respect what you're saying there, but at the end of the day it's his money and his decision to determine if he wants to pursue his nostalgic vision. We can only go off what he's said and a key part of that is to retain the floodlights as an iconic feature. Personally I am very happy we have an owner who is prepared to do this.

There are many local kids football teams who would jump at the chance to supply ball boys and boy girls.this could be done on a rotation basis and make the kids more involved with their local club. The kids would love it and it would be good to make them part of the whole match day experience. They are the future of the club and their imagination needs to be captured early.

Could you ask about the clubs merchandise for next season is there plans for Polo shirts and the likes, on sale before the season starts.

Yes, we will be finalising this shortly & ordering more than last year when most of the stock was used up on staff, squad & stewards.

Can you ask what in cowp's name possessed somebody to authorise a red kit? It should never happen, no excuse!

It is necessary to build in as many permutations of colours as possible, red has served us well as a compromise when neither white or blue was acceptable, we considered stripes, yellow, green etc, etc and eventually returned to red with black trim. The new sponsor has amended their logo in order to complement the colours of the kit.
As the red did not sell too well last year we may decide not to purchase any red replicas for the shop focussing on the white & blue strips instead.
