Are you for real.
"Williams loan made permanent"
He has never been on loan and is contracted to Barrow until 2018.

You still da man.
Oh no, hang on - everything you've written appears to be [SwearFilter]. And the sooner we can watch football without the [SwearFilter] up chavs and child gangs embarrassing themselves, the better.

Not a flying start, but a good one, against handy opposition who passed the ball quite well and worryingly carved us open on occasions.
No one played badly, one or two played really well, and the team spirit looked excellent - the way the goal was celebrated was an indication to me of that.
I was a bit concerned about the defence as a unit, but individually not bad. Harrison and Hannah look to have potential up front. Not sure who was meant to be doing what in midfield - again nothing very attractive about the method, but effective. Set up to defend strongly once 1-0 up, so most of the game.
Sad to say Dixon remains a worry. No question about his shot stopping ability, but too many handling errors and his distribution is nothing short of poor.
A stiff test on Tuesday, which we seem capable of passing.

I've yet to see, last season or yesterday, Dixon throw the ball to either full-back to work the ball up from the back. It's ALWAYS the big boot, 50/50 chance at best. Top teams play the ball from the defence thro' the midfield and then spread it out to the WINGS. We never use the touchlines and the total width of the field. And still no shape in mid-field, but it's early days yet. We need a Paul Scholes type.
BTW, does anyone know if the 2 Paul's read this forum? Gotta feeling Paul C. does from USA....'Hi Paul'....

Surely Hughes will go into centre mid eventually rather than staying out wide?

A great 3 pts....Thought all the new boys did well.
Worried about the amount of chances we gave Aldershot, against a better team we would of been punished. We did ride our luck.
Still short of dominating the Central midfield.
I would rather see Hughes in there with Parry or Turnbull. Then we can get Meikle or Haworth out wide.
The front 2 worked hard.
Disappointing crowd but holiday season is in full swing. Its not related to prices.
Roll on Tuesday

Football – yay!!
Good winning start but I have never seen such craziness at the FBSS since the last ten minutes of the Tranmere game last season. A 3-3 draw would have been a more realistic scoreline I think. Lots of positives, primarily superb defending, energy and a good team spirit.
We seem to carry a bit of luck nowadays as well which historically has not been the case. The free kicks were abysmal however and if we haven’t got a decent set piece man we need to work out a few configurations in training. Finally, I hope PC will consider air conditioning when redevelopment of the Holker Street End is discussed.

I thought we played really well till about fifteen/twenty minutes in in the first half, honestly thought we'd go on to win by a decent margin, Aldershot fans must've been worried at that point. As the half wore on we just seemed to sit a bit too deep, was that a tactic or was that due to Aldershot pushing up? If it was a tactic I didn't like it, far too much of the game left for that.
Second half seemed to follow the same pattern, set off well then went deep.
I like the look of Harrison, some nice touches. Hannah was very lively and he'll bag a decent amount for us this season. Not sure about Hughes out wide though but he took his goal really well. As someone else mentioned, the set pieces don't look too clever at the moment, we had a couple of free kicks just battered straight at their wall.
A few too many chances created by Aldershot for comfort really, but them chances seemed to come after the first fifteen/twenty minutes in each half - before that I thought the back four looked fairly solid.
Considering the changes in players over the close season it was a good result, but I think there's a few things to be worked on by Coxy in the coming weeks.
I thought any one of Livesey (what a clearance at the end!!) Williams or Harrison could've been MoM.

Thought the officials did well apart from free kicks when the ref only managed to get the wall back about seven yards at most and it was that causing a problem for those taking the set pieces.
Their number 11 Bernard Mensah caused our defence countless problems from about 20 mins in and it was a relief to see him replaced with about thirty minutes remaining.
Would add Moussa Diarra to that list of potential MoM candidates Ian as he had a very good day at the office too!
Can't really agree with the criticism ARH is getting, thought he had a solid defensive midfield game I'm sure he carried out Paul Cox's instructions to the letter.

Yeah, he never did much wrong Mark but I think the three I mentioned had a bit more to their all round game but he'll certainly cause defences problems from corners/set pieces. His headers are a bit confusing at times, they seem to go the opposite way to the direction he intends, perhaps why he scored so many goals last season.....no one knows where they're going!
I agree with you about ARH, I thought he did ok, certainly not worth picking out as having a bad game. Although he did bottle one 50/50 just in front of us the second half when we were on the attack.
Thought everyone put in decent performances yesterday, just a few things to be worked on in the coming weeks but definitely the showings of a good team.

One or two chances yesterday where a pass to another player in the area could have got the goal instead of blindly shooting and having it saved.

Don't confuse top teams with good football. I know what your saying, but top teams actually do one thing and that is score more goals in a game than the opposition (usually). How they all get there differs by team and league. Kidderminster last season were a team that played the ball from defence through midfield and spread it to the wings. They got relegated.
On playing style our next opponents Tranmere won 2-0 at Bromley who were described as poor and one of there fans said...

Cox post match
interview on iPlayer (starts on 00:33:45 about 9mins long)
Considering we had 8 players making debuts yesterday we did pretty well. Harrison looks good up front, Hannah kept standing offside too much but worked hard. Diarra dominated defence in the air and Livesey covered and recovered well a few times, how did he not put that in the net for them? MoTM for header. Williams picked up where he left off, Hughes smashed the back of the net almost twice but for a good save onto the bar or did it just hit the bar? Meikle looked like he might be useful and I know it was against tired legs but Bennett on at the end appeared to win everything, what a handful he looks. Anderson got booked for throwing the ball down the line but otherwise did well. No real slip ups apart from their movement and pace almost undoing us now and then, along with two mishaps from Dixon that thankfully didn't result in a goal. Also a couple of silly and unnecessary yellow cards.
Aldershot will feel a little hard done by after their glaring misses and may feel they deserved a draw at least. But their keeper was the busier of the two and kept them in it with a number of significant saves that were goal bound. Not a pretty performance at times but functional. Cox expecting more and I think we are as well. Well done.
