I am very surprised Andy Parry has not started at all this season.
Barrow looked solid after he joined last season.
Don't think he had one bad game yet seems out of favour this term.

Chesters' main striker sent off today and will miss Tuesday. They are there for the taking with right team and tactics.As already pointed out we have played three tough games, two of them away to a 100 per cent team and one involving a long journey. No need to press the panic button yet. One small observation. Is it imperative that Dixon,Diarra (or both) are blamed for every goal we concede. There are nine others on the pitch.

I was there today I also was at the Aldershot game. I think we've got a strong squad but our tactics need working on. There was only and I'm not exaggerating here two occasions this afternoon that I can think of when we strung more than two passes together. The tactics are evident. Dixon is obviously told to hit every goal kick in the direction of Hughes who is then told to head the ball on. I feel sorry for our midfield who for long periods just see the ball flying over their head. When we buck the trend and get the ball on the deck we look good but clearly that's not the game plan. Today as an event was dreadful, it just wasn't entertaining. I want us to get promoted as much as anyone else but I worry what the gates will be at Holker Street if we continue to play in such a direct way.

Positives from today we nicked a point which we didn't deserve and the three subs Meikle, Bennett and Howarth seemed to liven things up. The other positive, we've got four points from the two games I've seen and we could so easily have had just one.

With regards to our mindset I was surprised that having got a late goal we decided to slow things down on the pitch. I would have thought that with three to four minutes of injury time left we should have pushed for a winner. Torquay were gutted at that stage and looked vulnerable but we seemed happy to play the clock down.

On paper our opening results look average but considering we have played 3 top half teams (2 away) with 9 settling in players & a key player out injured & us defo not playing well yet, Coxy's going to bring in another 2 or 3 once he finds the right ones who agree to come etc IMO we have done alright so far, hopefully a convincing 3 home points this Tuesday will settle everyone down.

what do you know miockmike ? have you ever been to holker st ? have you bought a new armchair ? x

Harrison was dreadfull against Tranmere and today was even worse according to both commentators,yet P C in his interview said he had played his best game for us today,bizzarre.

According to the BBC RC commentary we did not look to be settling for a draw and were going for the win at the end.

I also noticed when asked by BBC RC about possible long term injuries to players such as Livesey post match, Cox avoided answering the question and instead just commented on the likes of Turnbull who picked up a knock in todays game. Hope we don't have any long term injuries already.

Only 1 top half team, Tranmere. I wouldn't count Torquay or Aldershot as top half teams (or finishers). Despite how good they look on the pitch and both appear to have improved on last season, like Barrow they are in the middle of a rebuild so are totally unproven so could finish anywhere. Both had disappointing seasons last time out and finished bottom half of the table, Torquay almost relegated and Aldershot completely fell apart toward the end. However Tranmere were a real top half team that have built on a solid season.

I agree with you though that we have done okay given the number of new players we have on board. The only loss so far to a team that currently tops the division is not a bad thing.

An 8hour coach ride and that was from J36 M6 and I thought I was watching Edmo's team (hit it long from the back and hope someone gets on the end of it).This would seem to be the Paul Cox way.Great save from Dixon in the first few minutes and to be honest that was about it for the first half besides the defensive error that lead to their goal.
It was in the last twenty minutes when things improved with the introduction of Meikle,Bennett and Howarth.Meikle down the left and Howarth down the right put in some useful balls but it just didn't fall right for us.
In the last minute Meikle did well on the left and Bennett scored with the help of a deflection.This was our only effort on target in ninety minutes as I remember.
This was a poor performance but we came away with a point.The squad is still trying to gel and if we win against Chester that will be a decent start to the season but there is a lot of work to be done yet.
I thought our front two of Hannah and Harrison worked hard but nothing really came off (both subbed),Diarra needs time to adjust to this league (partly at fault for goal) and my MOM goes to Nick Anderton.
Let's see what happens on Tues.IMO I think there is room for Parry in front of the defence and both Meikle and Howarth be considered for the starting eleven.
