I knew you lot were unsophisticated but you could have at least used the provided water closets for your doings. Must be a lot of rich food in Lincoln if it requires a bulldozer to shift it. Have you tried Colon Cleanse?

Having watched the game back when I got home Tuesday night our fears of the floodlight quality were unfounded, they looked excellent on the box.

Some progress then, but why does it have to appear in the paper rather than under news on the official site.

So two years down the road and the club’s powers-that-be have found out that floodlight removal, design, installation and commissioning is a specialist discipline? Well that’s progress I suppose but it exposes a real shortfall in the understanding of maintenance and construction requirements & processes.

I understand CEO Straker is a former footballer and school teacher; with respect that’s hardly the best background when it comes to managing key infrastructure projects and talking hardball with specialist contractors.

They need to appoint a project manager in relation to all the redevelopment!!

I emailed the owner ages ago with details of the chap who project managed the FC United stadium build but no response. :(

When the main Stand was built that area had to be piled prior to the foundations (for the steelwork) being laid. I was the Quantity Surveyor for the Main Contractor on the project. What happened on that project was the club brought in a structural Engineering firm to design the whole thing and put the tender out as a design and build project - that's the obvious way to go with the floodlight works.

Sorry, I'm a bit confused by that. Why do you ask someone to design the whole thing then include design again in the tender? Why isn't it just build to the design already agreed?

the structural engineers do all the calculations on the steelwork needed and steelwork/lighting weights etc which along with the ground conditions dictates what piling needs doing and the foundation sizes.
but structural engineers won't do the work - so tenders would need to go out for the work to specialists to do the work. In the case of the floodlights most of the design would be already done - but the details would still be variable as long as it gave the required lighting levels - that's where the design and build bit comes in.

I hope that the new floodlights will fit in with the plans for the stadium development because we were originally told this was one of the reasons for the delay !
