I understand your points John but for me there are some simple solutions.

I believe turnstile operators are employed by the club to do the turnstiles, if the club want to accept online tickets then they surely can. All the operator has to do is check the ticket briefly and put it in their cash box. It won't take any longer than them accepting payment and getting the correct change for someone.

I agree the lighting could be a problem (although it will be light before kick off so maybe not that much of a problem) but if that proved to be the case then at worst some cheap torches could be bought for match days and at best the GMA guys could maybe put in some temporary lighting.

The club are trusting people to be honest for the first game, fair play to them. If it turns out to be necessary, the software is available at the ticket office to scan mobile tickets (which is the same scanner as for printed tickets). If worse comes to worse, everyone can go to the ticket office and have their tickets scanned properly.

Whatever happens there is the Halifax game to trial everything and I'm sure the necessary changes (if any) will be made after that match.

I'm quite looking forward to seeing how it turns out, adds to the excitement of the start of the season

All for advancing and using technology, but why not just get it right first time.
What I'm reading is, a fan could buy and just print off one ticket, photocopy it or edit it, Hand copy's to friends. They hand them in at the turnstile.
If it happens the club will react and come up with a new system.

I know what ide be doing if I was a Halifax fan.

Any names of the childrens season tickets that were renewed should have been entered into a draw thats done privately then they should have been delivered by a player with Matt Dodd in tow then splashed on social media.

Yes but that would of meant foresight and vision or someone waking up having had a brain fart. I think you know the rest!!
I must point out Foresight and Vision are not the safety officer and his assistant.

The technology is already out there and would be quite straightforward to introduce. The club are using Eventbrite to support e-ticketing. Eventbrite have an "event organiser app" that uses smartphone networking to scan and send the count wirelessly to one receiver location. This could be used to provide the club safety officer with real time attendance counting from all areas of the ground. The scanning app will also recognise "duplicate tickets" and will flag up an error message if one is being used. All this info is on the Eventbrite website.

Think we are moving this way with ticketing and currently 80:20 cash / ticket on the turnstile will likely turn around over the next few seasons as this technology gets introduced. The days of the old tally check on the back of an envelope are numbered!i

Some were yes, But you only suggested it earlier & the clubs follows your lead so time was against them here.

The club have said they will be closely monitoring them, if after the first game there are clearly more tickets collected by the turnstile operators than were sold online, surely they can revert to everyone going to the ticket office to have them scanned.
After that, those people who think it isn't worth saving a quid will continue to pay on the day, and those that think it is will buy online and go to the ticket office first. Easy!
This is a step forward, we will have automatic season ticket cards next

Are all the turnstile operators aware of the new system and happy to use it in addition to handling cash and other tickets?
I very much doubt the turnstile operators will be happy with this when its difficult enough just dealing with cash.
There is nothing much in the way of lighting in the turnstiles and it will be a night game - how well will the tickets actually be able to be seen and will it take extra time to check?
Who is going to check the tickets after the game and how long will that take?
Do the club have the software available and a dedicated person who knows how to operate the software available to scan tickets if it doesn't work out?

Its a recipe for disaster - if something like this is going to be done it should be done properly or not at all - bar code readers at each turnstile block is the only way, anything else is just half baked and asking for problems.

I expect it will just be exchanged for a normal ticket when you hand it over to the turnstile guys.

He didn't know if I could get out at half time or not so came up with the solution of if I see you I'll let the steward know.

Very easy do what Chiang Mai FC do. You hand in the printed ticket at the turnstile and they put a wrist band on you. This shows day of game, opponents etc, you are now free to enter or re enter as you please. Why are you trying to make this sound so difficult.
And CMFC get crowds approx 4 times BAFC on a regular basis. It is so easy to do this.

Going on what has been posted so far, there was no mention of what would happen to tickets and getting back in if you go out at HT.
It's clearly not so straightforward as I know the club are so poor at organisation and communication and so it has proved if Lowtower's post and my own experience is anything to go by.

I showed mine to the steward thinking he was going to take it of me and give me a match ticket which is presumably what he should've done reading Ryan's posts?
However he looked at it and saw it was correct and just waved me through and I kept hold of my ticket. Probably the easiest solution of the lot but it won't have been checked and dunno if it'd been counted that I actually attended?
