Ste Story wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2017 6:34 pm Hughes is never a winger. Quite like him in the middle of the park in a strong, physical matches but out there he's just ineffective.

Look a much better prospect when Yuseff and Harrison came on, potentially the best strike partnership in quite a few years at the club, if the physio can keep them both fit then he's worth his weight in gold.

How long till Dunne is back? Much better than Audel and we won't look quite so loose at the back when he's back.

All in all disappointed with the point after the second half but at times in the first half we were overran and could have gone in three down.
When has he ever played in middle? Hughes
Only want to see him in the middle of the bench

Didn't see today's game, but I have seen a lot of Hughes. He is not good enough for this league whether on the wing or in the middle.

Really can't understand why a former member of this forum is not commenting on the match thread surely he was there. I mean if you comment on a club's website so much surely you attend unless you live abroad.

Surprised, with all the negativity towards Hughes and Audel, that no one has mentioned Barratt who was excellent. His out-swinging crosses were outstanding.

Another key player was Gomis, who, having been clattered (and later clattered again), was unable to impose himself in midfield in the same way as in previous games. I was surprised he wasn't substituted; I hope he won't be going on the injured list...

Not the complete 'keeper yet but Moore continues to impress.

Meant in play rather than position. He drifts inside alot and is often found picking up or breaking up play in he middle, which he's much better at than trying to play intricate links or run down the wing.

Maidenhead were a very physical side who operated in groups to close people down quickly and hassle them off the ball. They were ably assisted by the ref who appeared to turn a blind eye to almost all of their fouls - but then I would say that wouldn't I :-) . They had a fast and skillful number 11 who always looked a threat . Overall , they bossed the first half leaving Barrow looking short on fitness , speed, skill and ideas.

After the break Barrow worked much harder to keep the ball ( rather than lumping it forward - usually much too hard to be helpful to the strikers,as they had in the first half ) and to compete. It began to pay off and, once the belief began to return, they had the confidence to begin to create chances . The introduction of Yussuf and Harrison caused more problems for Maidenhead - and looks a promising combination for the future.

The squad as a whole seems to lack pace - but overall look to have the potential to be top half challengers if they can string together a win or two to bolster flagging confidence.

Very nearly scored the winner rattling the bar from 20 odd yards.

Played some okay football in the second half, after a first where we could have been 3 down. Not sure about this 3 at the back. There were times where we just cut to pieces. Harrison and Yussuff getting a game was a very nice surprise and have everyone a much needed boost. Too many draws atm, similar to last season. Those who we've drawn against will be bottom 6/7.

He's local Mike. He has said he won't be going to watch Barrow at home this season. Not much of a supporter in my eyes.

Agreed!

The lads a local football manager, giving something back to the community. They play football on a Saturday and train on a Tuesday doesn't take much working out does it. He hasn't got time even if he had the inclination!!! Let's all cut each other some slack, enough already.Time to move on!!
