Official statement from the club declared Ogden responsible for the squad with no weaknesses.

If as you seem to suggest all the signings were Cox's doing what the hell was Ogden doing? Picking up an easy pay cheque each week doing [SwearFilter] all?

Let's hope he has a Jordan Williams season and not a Bradley bauress one.
Official statement from the club doesn’t mean Paul Ogden said that does it?

Regarding “what the hell was Ogden doing” I might be well wide of the mark here but as his role was scouting (before the failed new role he took....crazy goings on at that particular time!) I would suggest he was, well scouting. The final say must’ve been the then managers. You’re not seriously suggesting Ogden as a scout could sign a player without the managers agreement are you? Then again, perhaps you are because it suits you and protects Cox.
I'm not arsed about protecting a memory of Cox he left nearly a year ago. Said many times he was largely partly responsible for the shit storm this season, however so were many others.
Funny that people are happy that Ogden is back who was also partly responsible (completely responsible according to the club) of assembling this years squad with no weaknesses.

It could be that he does go and unearth some more Bennets and Williams, fingers crossed he does.
But it adds fuel to the questions who is responsible for finding/signing players? Who was last year, ogden, cox or casson? Who is this year considering we've already offloaded some players and offered others contracts before appointing ogden or a manager?
What happens if we get Guardiola in as manager and he doesn't want to give Diarra another season and we've already signed him on? Or they want to keep Dan Jones but weve already agreed a transfer?

Its all a bit mismanaged really isn't it?

The last two points of your post I entirely agree with.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

:)

I'm sure we'll have learnt and recruit better this season. At least recruit some players who will give more each week anyway..

Don't forget them players Jones etc are under contract as well.
So ide imagine if they only get offered less pay by a new club and can't agree terms then they'll be back next season unless they pay them off. Or if no-one comes in for them we are stuck with them anyway

Would we not pay the difference in this instance ?
I thought we did something of the like with Grimes ?

michaelstreet75 wrote: Thu May 24, 2018 8:34 am Bit underwhelming, yes he did well with bennett and williams, however last seasons findings by him were pretty poor (bauress especially) and from what i can see, his scouting pretty much is Northwich or witton.

His previous years prior to us has been spent in the lower leagues with likes of leek and witton.

Appears to me, he has been appointed with a view to scouring players from lower leagues which id rather do if we are skint rather than signing aging rejects from further up the leagues.

Can see holt getting the job now btw with ogden assisting
I’d also like to see a healthy mix of several older war horses who have been there & done it, But more importantly still fit, healthy & hungry for further success and very importantly with the right professional attitude. To school these previously lower league lads like Waterston & who ever we Sign from those lower leagues who Again must have the right attitude & really want to prove themselves in the higher grade, I’d be more than happy with a lower to mid table finish & keep the majority of this newer squad then add 4 or 5 (similar as above) the next season & Hopefully aim for the playoffs.....We can still dream can’t we.

And as I said above. Its the same as gomis Jones barthram white hall. Pay them off they will leave, if no one offers them a similar wage they can stay and I can't blame them. Contracts a contract

Speculation is a waste of time really, but if PC’s £4 million had been wisely used it’s reasonable to assume that Barrow would be doing ok.
As it is, it’s been a bit of a shambles. Broken promises, stream of management and staff departures for a whole host of reasons, poor appointments, poor squad, a naive and inexperienced MD in charge, and now significant cut backs, and absolutely no stability.
Not boring though is it?!

Why pay off players contracts?
If they sign elsewhere and move on ok but I don’t agree we should pay them to go.
If clubs don’t come in for our listed players then they will stay and play. Some are on decent money so may be disinclined to move on?
The reality is some will stay and under a new regime with fresh ideas and new players will do ok.

Having Ogden better than not having Ogden. Positive move.
Stood behind Ray Wilkie for years. Best education I ever had.

You know him well then? Or are you just blindly going off what we've been told in various statements?

I have no idea whether its a good or bad thing, I'd lean towards the latter given previous history but I hope it turns out to be positive. Either way, I don't see how any of us can truly comment on his ability or knowledge when we know virtually nothing about him other than that he once managed Witton Albion.
No i dont know him personally but have had the pleasure of talking on a few occasions and he "seems" to know who, what and where.. Lets see what happens eh?
