Not sure what the above poster was watching, but Dixon's distribution was terrible! The ball rarely goes where he intends, and usually ends up in the one corner of the pitch that no one is standing.

Thought Agustien and Smith were playing well, so can only imagine tiredness was a factor in them being subbed. We edged the first half and outplayed them second - the style tonight also felt like Evatt was implementing his Plan B, and it worked.
People need to get off dixons back, second clean sheet in a row. Took every cross tonight and never looked troubled same as Saturday.
I watched Dr Gea put 3 consecutive kicks in the stand a few weeks ago on TV, apparently he's one of best in the world.

He only faced one shot though, as far as I remember, and the last two home games he has got lucky a couple of times with scuffed kicks that fortunately came to nothing. Just doesn't instil any confidence, and WILL cost us points.

Enjoyed tonight, a good game. 3-5-2 seems to suit the players. Can’t play like the passing game that we’ve seen a lot of, but the new system seems to work, particularly defensively. All players can be satisfied with what they contributed.

A good performance, with Russ in a roving indoor role that. Somehow still ended in the stand.. Range of hot drinks were available. Two at the back essential at half time and a late addition to the side nipping for milk when we ran out, much appreciated. Window was class.

The team looked very solid and comfortable. Taylor is our most important player imho. Really warming to Blyth.

Absolutely disgusting attendance. The so called football supporting public of this area do not deserve a team at National Conference level. To all you who stayed away because you are giving your money to Sky or BT-shame on you. To all you who fit and healthy folk who stayed away because of the weather-shame on you. To all you who stayed away because Casson associated himself with a tory-shame on you. To all of you who had to stay away because you genuinely couldn't afford it, well, I feel for you because it was a bloody good game let down by an apathetic attendance after a fine away win at Aldershot.

That was as SOLID a performance as I've seen this season (ie defensively we were a lot more robust and did not look anything like as leaky as we usually do). A word for Jameson, who has made mistakes but who didn't put a foot wrong last night. As Spirit said on an earlier post the other side of the coin was that we didn't produce so much of the attractive eye-catching stuff as per earlier in the season. Maybe we can't have it both ways, rock solid and eye-catching??? Man City do it so why can't we? Erm, for the simple reason that . . . .

A lot on here about the attendance; I suppose if you can look at it completely dispassionately and leave loyalty, enduring nature, "mad few" syndrome aside, then you could understand why some might want to give it a miss after the Eastleigh performance (indeed go missing for evermore after watching that one . . .)

Also, the weather threatened to be heading towards the apocalyptic end of the spectrum around midday but in the event, for late November, the conditions were as perfect as you could hope for, with little wind, no rain and reasonably mild. But some might still have been scared off by the prospect of the weather that was supposed to be heading our way (but which still hasn't arrived yet as we approach midday on Wednesday).

And then there would have been some who would have preferred to watch young boys on the TV rather than go to Holker Street (that probably was worded a little clumsily but those with Old Trafford inclinations will know what I mean).

And now, leaving all those excuses aside, yes, the attendance was shameful.

Once again a few morons amongst our numbers chose to boo Rutherford when he came on for Wrexham. Why would anybody boo a player who, for all his shortcomings, never gave less than 100% for us? He almost made us pay with a good effort that was curling into the top corner until Dixon managed to pluck it out of the air. But what's with these people?

Happens everywhere PJ. Anfield one of the best when Sterling goes back with City. When we get older we forgive a lot more.

Sterling a bit different. He is a greedy footballer.
Ruthers not in that catorgory. Good servant for Barrow and we shouldn't be booing

The opinion from Radio Cumbria commentary (nice to hear Matt Henney by the way) was that the wing backs were playing too far back, thus not offering any attacking threat out wide. This may have made for more solid defence at the expense of more attacking options. Whether this was planned tactics or a little bit of fear we may never know.

Also, some positive comments from Adam and Matt about Connor Brown, apparently did well playing in an unfamiliar role.

I was very critical of Dixon, especially after the Eastleigh game but he seems to be more confident again. Made some excellent saves in the previous two games and is proving his worth in the team. He seems to know when to come out and when he needs to rely on his defence, that has also improved since going to a 3/5 (depending how you view it.) So I think it’s time to get behind him and not get on his back, as others have stated.

Blyth has been a breath of fresh air in the team and his presence was what we were lacking. Having him and Smith will certainly benefit us in the long run, with a lot of great attacking options like Hindle being available when needed off of the bench. As shown a few times, he can make a real impact when brought on. Surprised to see Blyth given two full 90 minutes, but he’s clearly ready for it and I look forward to more from him. Evatt believes he’s our ‘main man’ going back to pre-season.

Jason Taylor was brilliant once again and is personally the key to our team. He gets around the pitch and is able to get stuck in. Without him, we’d struggle (ie Eastleigh!) Honourables mention to Jack Barthram as well who has been equally as good in the last two games. His style gives us extra options and we seem to be finding the men to cover when he pushes up. Personally, I much prefer him to Brown who was too reluctant to come forward at times.

We had our chances to win but were unlucky. The attendance was poor; but hopefully after a few decent results we’ll win the support back. Saturday is a vital game and three points are a necessity. Fingers crossed we get them.

Whilst much has been rightly said about the poor attendance from Barrow supporters, I think that Wrexham deserve praise for bringing 116 to Holker Street in mid week on an inclement evening.

We all know a very poor attendance crops up every now and then at HS but what I find extremely disappointing about last nights was -

A good win weekend should’ve attracted a few more to attend.
The weather improved as the day went on (I think Mark highlighted that earlier in the day)
We were playing Wrexham, one of the bigger teams in the league and probably one of the more attractive fixtures.

But more than any of those, the most disappointing thing was, after all of the hard work that Paul Hornby has put in getting new people involved in the space of a month and the sterling work the Trust have out in (remember virtually everyone involved have day jobs and businesses to run) the Barrow public now know the club needs people through the turnstiles, and at the first opportunity they get to show their support of what everyone is doing...we get that last night.
Yet they’ll be the first to moan at cut budgets, lesser players or relegation.

I think there's a bigger picture regarding the attendance last night. I took a quick look at other attendances around the league and, for example, Salford on their website were bitterly disappointed with the 1200 or so that turned up (over 100 Harrogate fans also attended). They were down around 600 or 700 on previous home games. And don't point the finger at United being at home as I know there are only a few that attend home games for both clubs plus the fact Old Trafford was nowhere near full last night as well. It's about when these evening games are played - last November! Why do they do it? I'd wager that Leyton O and Chesterfield also posted lower than their normal average last night. They put on these winter evening games and pair clubs against each other from a localish area in the vague hope attendances will be OK (Us v Wrexham, Leyton O v Dover, Salford v Harrogate.....) but it is simply not going to work. If we had played Wrexham on a Saturday my guess is that the Wrexham following would have doubled and somewhere around 1500 - 16000 would have been the attendance. The league needs to re-think its strategy of playing these midweek league games during the winter months.
