Re: Outgoing Players Rumours
Our penalty taker gone. Had the nerve to take them even though he was not the most reliable. Wonder who gets the job now.
Re: Outgoing Players Rumours
It will be interesting to see at what time he joins Bolton.

Re: Outgoing Players Rumours
Stockport recruiting well for a big promotion push next season.
"To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.
Re: Outgoing Players Rumours
This Rooney news is a sickener and I can well understand Russell Anderson's emotional reaction but I hope he can get over it as I know from this forum he is one of our club's longest-standing supporters. I mean, I think he just might be even older than me (sorry, Russell).
Let's hope lightning strikes twice; back in 1967 our manager Don McEvoy walked out on us after a big promotion just like Evatt did and we also lost our star midfielder back then, George Smith, who was arguably the best player who ever played for us. Mind you, I understand George made no effort to move (unlike Rooney) but was cashed in for what was a club record fee at that time. Despite these hammer blows we went on to have the best season in our history, finishing in our highest ever place in the pyramid - 8th in the old 3rd Division. Here's hoping - - - but our manager is going to have to pull a rabbit out of the hat and get a top-quality playmaker to replace Rooney (I have no idea whether any of our new signings that have sprung up in the last few hours come anywhere near to being replacements of the same type).
So, I can understand the desperate disappointment Russell is feeling at the moment but we have to hope our new manager comes up with the goods. I guess it's football; players and managers just keep moving on but the sun still comes up tomorrow.
Whilst I am empathising with Russell's downer, I have to say I get sick of the tired, cliched old routine of having your photo taken holding either the scarf or the shirt of the new club, whether it's when joining us or indeed joining any club. In more than 90% of cases it's a very shallow and very tired practice. Can't we have something new? Given the part of the world in which we are located, how about new signings pulling the gurniest face possible for the camera and we'll give a gurning prize to the ugliest newcomer. I can think of one or two who could have won that in past years without even trying.

Heavens, no! People might think we are from Cumberland.
I am told new teeth from Turkey can make a big improvement, mind.

Re: Outgoing Players Rumours
Great post and both my son and myself are starting to cool down a bit now! Like yourself I was desperately disappointed and surprised to hear the news about Rooney just as I was when George Smith left who I would also say was the best player I ever saw play for Barrow although Mick Hartland possibly could have been if he had George's dedication. We obviously know all about Luke James. A willing runner who works hard and will score a few goals. A reasonable addition to the squad and could help Quigley if we don't lose him. On the face of it the 2 other new lads look decent. Both midfield players, 6ft anf 6ft 1in. Jones at 32 on the old side but a decent defensive midfielder and Beadling a good age at 24. From the video I've seen of Beadling he looks as though he is a good passer and both these 2 are rated by the supporters of their previous clubs which is generally a good sign.pjdaly wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 8:56 pm This Rooney news is a sickener and I can well understand Russell Anderson's emotional reaction but I hope he can get over it as I know from this forum he is one of our club's longest-standing supporters. Re: Outgoing Players Rumours
Watched a few Dunfermline games last season, Beadling looked good in them, tidy on the ball and got his youth in to break up play, think he'll be a great signing

Re: Outgoing Players Rumours
Rooney has had one good season and is 29 he hasn't cut it at league football in the past so let's just move on and see who else Dunn brings in
