Re: Lewis Hardcastle
Sad news but wish you and your family all the best in the future, you will always be remembered at Holker Street with fond memories as one of the stars of the team that got us back into the Football League, one of the things that got us promoted was the high press we employed winning the ball high up the park, your energy and determination was vital for us to play like that, once a bluebird always a bluebird, whatever you choose to do as a career I am sure you will do it with that same energy, all the best in the future

Re: Lewis Hardcastle
Absolutely gutted for Lewis. A career cut short at a young age and such a pivotal member of our historic promotion winning squad. Thanks for everything you did and achieved at Barrow Lewis. All the very best for your and your family's future.
We hate Carlisle United, we hate Workington too (and Morecambe), we hate Accrington Stanley but Barrow we love you
Re: Lewis Hardcastle

Re: Lewis Hardcastle
Such sad, sad news. Apart from the playing side I think the hard part will be missing the changing room banter and camaraderie of team mates. Being a part of it.
I will remember Lewis as one of three players who came and helped us after the last game of the season when we were refurbishing the Crossbar.
Ok it was a fine imposed by Evatt---help us or a £1000 fine so we won out.
They did pitch in though and one enjoyed it and wanted to come back and help but IE vetoed that one.
A surreal moment watching him pushing a supermarket trolley to the skip and tossing carpet tiles in. Wearing a red baseball cap, the other two shouting out of the window "Chesney can we order a kebab please"? Coronation St viewers will understand that one.
While football was his life he can't risk it taking his life.
Best of luck Lewis and don't be a stranger to Holker St.

Re: Lewis Hardcastle
Reminds me of Paul Ferris, member of our 1990 FA Trophy winners. Retired at 24 due to cruciate injury, became physio at Newcastle United, studied for an MA, then studied law and became a barrister. Just shows that, when one door closes, others open. I hope the fund raising might help Lewis study for a new career.
In case some are not familiar with his story, this is an article about him. Inspirational stuff.
