We did well to get a pint out of that game, one which we could well have lost last season. We played well in spells and had some decent chances. Looking forward to seeing what the new lads can bring to the midfield creatively. Fantastic save from Maloney late in the game, thought it was a goal all over but did well to get down and save with his arm. Probably could have done better with the pens, especially the last one, but a pretty decent debut overall. Good away turn out giving the competition and that we're away on Saturday. Accrington ground hasn't improved drastically since we were last there but compact and neat.

Agree re Scott Maloney. Decent debut overall, looked confident, unlucky on two penalties squirming under his body - a hard place to defend, a great bottom corner save, learning opportunities on positioning and distribution but good to have this experience under his belt and will learn from it.

Just for anybody a little confused with the rules of the EFL trophy and who are still confused about what actually happened last night.

The teams play for 90 minutes. If after that point one team has scored more goals then it receives 2 points and I think a modicum of prize money. The .

If the scores are level the game is officially drawn. Each team gets 1 point and shares any prize money. In order however to ensure that at least one team gets two points out of the game (this is a group system and you need two qualifiers from it) a penalty shoot out competition will then ensue for one team to earn an extra point.

Officially and statistically therefore we drew with Accy last night but Accy won the penalty shoot out competition for an extra point.

If you track the game on a service such as LiveScore it will appear as if Accy won the game on penalties as per the FA Cup. This is because their systems cannot fully cater for the rules of the EFL Trophy. But technically the game and any penalty shoot out are separate events.

To anyone at the game, this actually was admirably explained by the stadium announcer at the end of 90 minutes.

Thanks Adam you say it far more succinctly than I do.

So for those tempted to be harsh on Scott Moloney as I was at the time think on. His worldy save in normal time earned us £5,000. His unfortunate episode with the penalty lost a point but cost us nothing. So on balance it’s probably well done Mr Moloney.

Yes, great save! And yes; that's exactly what I thought, very similar to the save by Banks. Think we have a fine prospect with young Maloney. I was impressed with Hutton again. Puts in some stirling performances and a heap of good crosses into the box too. Zanzala is looking more impressive each game. Still not sure about Gordon.

I was impressed that we came back from being beaten to draw the game. Also, against Hartlepool to win the game. And to salvage a point with ten men against Bristol Rovers. Cooper seems to be building a team with fighting spirit, who also look organised and difficult to beat.
