Barrow v Morecambe match thread
Re: Barrow v Morecambe match thread
Still think automatic promotion.
The 2 silly goals we gave away and the way the game was going looked like a defeat .
Sometimes you go to a game and think if we play 360 minutes we would not win.
Morecambe were straight at us and we seemed to lay off them

Think as bad as we were wild will be most annoyed at us not changing for one second ball till the last 10 minutes. First time in a long while I can criticise any of them. Bullied but it happens. Regroup and Go again

Re: Barrow v Morecambe match thread
What an opportunity that was with MK Dons, Crewe and Gillingham all dropping points but we just rarely looked like it. We seemed to be caught in the headlights in that opening 15 mins and allowed it to be too frenetic. Their first did bounce off the heel of their forward as we tried to clear but should not have been in that position in the first place. The second? well, what can you say? Just a horror show.
In the second half the subs became increasingly desperate and for a while our shape was all over the place. Never stopped trying, though.

Don't let the old man in.

Last away win at Crewe in December. Still think we need to get some points in our remaining away fixtures. hope we can take advantage of a inconsistent Swindon team on Saturday.
But you know what football can be like.

Just seen the goals. 1st a bit unlucky, second a bit of a brain fart from Chester giving us a mountain to climb. On to the next. Anything more than 10 points from remaining games and we should be good for play offs and still pushing autos. Rooting for donny tomorrow!

Re: Barrow v Morecambe match thread
As I was walking to the match today,I said to my mate,"Which Barrow team do you think will show up today,I hope it,s not the one that played at Wrexham?"
It looked for the first 12minutes that,s the one that did indeed turn up.They were sluggish ,didn,t run at players ,were sloppy in defence which gifted Morecambe two goals.Once that happened Morecambe put the shutters up and started using the dark arts and feigning injury whilst at the same time shoving one of our players in the back as he was about to cross the ball from near the corner. This was done right in front of the linesman and he didn,t raise his flag for a definite.foul.Another time when we were on the attack one of their players fell down feigning injury and the ref stopped the game and proceeded with a dropped ball.Their so called injured player suddenly then made a miraculous recovery.I felt the ref and the linesmen were very one sided
totally different to the one who was in charge of the Grimsby game on Good Friday.
Having said that the team redeemed themselves with Whitfield's goal, they just left it too late.At least we are still in the play offs.Hopefully normal service will be resumed against Swindon.
Keep the Faith.

Yes, it's frustrating, but it was not the bad performance that some people on here are saying (apart from the disastrous second goal). The first one was a lucky bounce. We were the better team for the most part, and even at half time I still felt we could get something. Unfortunately our goal came too late to worry Morecambe unduly.

Re: Barrow v Morecambe match thread
Our forte this season has been mainly built on preserving leads not chasing deficits. I thought we might be worth a point at Morecambe. But conceding 2 in the opening 10 minutes is not a scenario that this team is used to. Morecambe like many other teams in this division are good enough to defend a two goal lead. As we would have been.
Need to return to the formula that has worked for us previously on Saturday. Swindon are a team with an impressive history but are possibly the most underperforming team in the division and we’re quite easily put to bed by Sutton today. Get back on track and then to Tuesday against a Bradford side that could not get past the same Grimsby side that we demolished on Friday (also with 2 early goals - they are a killer).
Let’s do the business at home and not get too worried about away games. This is not about automatic promotion. It’s about a play-off place for the first time in our history.
Looking at the table I’m more convinced after today that the last place will be obtained by a total less than 75 points. So, the next win will open the door. A subsequent one would probably push us through it.
PW said he thought there’d be a few twists and turns for us and I think today was the sort of game he had in mind.

Re: Barrow v Morecambe match thread
Today we lost the type of game that we've won many of this season, credit to our neighbours in that they shut us out like we do to others. Two huge home games coming up against big clubs to secure a playoff spot, if that doesn't excite you as a Barrow fan, I'm not sure what will.
Popular side since '03.
Re: Barrow v Morecambe match thread
Barrow AFC supporters turn up en masse and the team fails to deliver, shock horror………..We have seen it a plenty over the years so should be used to it by now, but it still wrangles. Sadly we started the game with a scatter gun approach, blew a few toes off and we were left licking our wounds for almost seventy minutes.
Morecambe to their credit have hit a bit of a purple patch over the last couple of game and certainly turned the screw first half especially. But we flattered to deceive on the other hand and self destructed twice.
Ultimately all is not lost in the grand scheme of things a much needed application of Mr Muscle and the blockage will hopefully be a distant memory.
