Thursday night for a local derby is ridiculous for both sets of fans.Any explanation forthcoming from Sky as to why the change.?.I still think we will get a decent crowd at Holker Street. We all know that we lose Saturday match people to the pubs and clubs when it on Saturday tv so can’t see that different. We may lose some kids whose Parents thinking about school next day.Am sure that most working people who want to attend will try get shift change plenty of notice.Usually people help out.Corporate may be the losers on this occasion but it could be a very important game for both teams in terms of where we finish so I think no need for doom and gloom. The holker street faithful will turn out and be loud and proud and Carlisle will sell out their allocation regardless.
Will be interesting to know at next years AGM if board think we were winners or losers financially from the sky deal overall all the season.

When are the TV games selected?
The notice periods for selections are as follows:

By November 1, selections shall be made in respect of all matches to be played between the end of the third round proper of the FA Cup and the first weekend of March.
So, they have not abided by this criterion. The Carlisle game, scheduled for the first weekend in March and brought forward to February, should have been selected by 1st November.

Should never of been moved hopefully both Clubs will complain but probably will just accept the decision.

I suspect both clubs will have agreed before the public announcement was made.

They agree to everything sky require when they signed the new deal. What sky says goes once they signed that deal.

I'm sure they did. Sky might have sweetened the pill with an extra financial inducement!

Well, in a triumph of hope over expectation, I've written to EFL asking them to explain why they agreed to their own rules being broken.

Hat off to you if you have taken the time to do that!

Absolutely spoiled the fixture being on a bloody Thursday night!!! Who else apart from us and them would be wanting to watch the game?? It's not a top of the table clash, it just doesn't make any sense at all.

Really [SwearFilter] off with this!

It’s what happens when you get into bed with the devil. Sky care about Sky nothing else and the clubs dance to their tune from the premier league to EFL2. I’m not sure the contracts been broken we have been given 4 weeks notice which after Feb 1st appears to be how it is.

As an ST holder at Man Utd I often despair at the timings both Sky & TNT often give to us and, to be fair, all other premier league teams. I wanted to apply for Spurs away but yet again its a 4pm on a winter's Sunday night. Getting back to Manchester will take around 4/5 hours traffic dependent and with my son at work early next morning such fixtures are not possible for us to go to. So when I come up to Barrow such timings have not been an issue. But now after what has been decided regards Carlisle things are now changing for L2 teams. I was going to bring my grandson up for his first "Cumbrian" derby but this is not possible as its school in the morning. It also concerns me that my grandkids are mascots for the Walsall game in April & that could easily be a televised fixture - 12.30 on a Saturday is OK but if they do it again and change it to a Thursday that would spoil everything for them. The point I'm trying to make here is that the EFL is fast going the same way as the Premier league but the big difference are the vast sums of money involved that will only really benefit PL clubs. Barrow probably lost money on the Wednesday night match and certainly will against Carlisle (I think!). Is the EFL deal actually worth it. I presume it must be. One things for certain all EFL fans are now just a commodity like the PL fans have become and legacy fans (the backbone of any club big or small) are those who suffer the most. Fergie once said "if you get into bed with the devil there will be consequences".
