Radio Carlisle next Season

I wouldn't be to sure about that. The hirearchy at Carlisle United are known to have been unhappy for some time with some of the comments about the club from Radio Cumbria. Add to that the city of Carlisle now has a very successful independent Radio station called CRFM and given that unlike the EFL full match commentary from the National League can be broadcast online the club might decide to use CRFM next season as an alternative to BBCRC.

So it will go to the highest bidder then - interesting. CRFM coverage would be full of adverts and lack the saturation level that we are treated to currently. So their supporters will be in the dark about soap supplies, lawn mowers, Lummie's holidays, whether Ted Lasso will replace Mark Hughes etc etc. Conversely it could be BBC Radio Barrow with updates on Kendal, Holker COB, Greengate Utd et al.

If it were to happen something tells me this won’t be a bidding war more of a statement by Carlisle United towards BBCRC that they don’t like them.Carlisle have been less than helpful towards BBCRC this season only meeting minimum requirements. Unlike what Adam gives us they have given very few player interviews this season and many requests to speak to players, owners and the CEO were turned down. It was only when they were finally relegated at Cheltenham last week a player was offered up to do an after match interview

They wouldn't snub them completely it would be the match commentaries they would loose. If it was to happen I would imagine it would be something like Morecambe have with Beyond Radio who give them full match commentary both home and away whilst the BBC get an after match interview with the manager. Listening yesterday on BBRC the presenters did not sound at all confident that they would be giving the same coverage to Carlisle United next season.

Sounds like BBC RC is between the devil and the deep blue sea; we're unhappy because we think too much emphasis is given to Carlisle and they're unhappy because they don't like the coverage they get. Carlisle has got bigger things to worry about than what they say on RC, it wasn't the radio coverage that got them relegated!

Sounds like BBC RC is between the devil and the deep blue sea; we're unhappy because we think too much emphasis is given to Carlisle and they're unhappy because they don't like the coverage they get. Carlisle has got bigger things to worry about than what they say on RC, it wasn't the radio coverage that got them relegated!

I think if Radio Cumbria dropped Lumsden that would go along way to mending broken bridges. His comments about him personally having friends as agents and without naming names letting it be known that he is aware who the players are that are both being offered to Carlisle and what wages individual players are being paid I don't think have gone down well with the club. I dare say if we had a co-commentator who aired similar on the air waves our owners would not be happy about it either.

Depends on how you look at it, Lummy is a fan, he's made no secret of that, I've seen him in the Beehive after good results and he's like a kid with a new toy. And for me, he talks and says things like he is talking to his mates, some people it irritates, and some 'like me' love it.
IMO it will be a sad day if we lose Radio Cumbria, but I have to say Barrow seem a lot more 'open' to the station than United do.

The problem is he is obviously privvi to information that the club would rather be kept in house and he makes no secret of the fact his “ agent mates “ are passing information to him. By all means take the info on board but don’t broadcast it on air that you are aware of such info

Having Foreign owners at a club as in our case proved it's hard to keep a eye on what's going on.

Sound’s like the owners don’t like criticism and want to take it in house. Be sad for the true fans especially the older ones who cannot get to games and like to listen at home on the Radio. I hope it does not affect our coverage if there is any drop off in revenue. Adam and his co commentators do a superb job covering us home and Away. I do like them going to different grounds when listening to away games and missed Walshy covering Workington this season. Always great to hear that they are playing like Barcelona but are 3 nil down!!

They can do what they want up there.
Just as long as we're not affected if the bbc decide to, want to or need to swing the axe.

Think you are referring to their Academy which they were about to shut down due to a shortage of funding.

Local Council appears to have stepped and offered Accy £140k to keep the academy going for another 12 months.

Chairman Andy Holt has stepped down but has committed to putting in £250k per season for the foreseeable future. They will be very much with us therefore next season albeit operating on their usual shoe string budget. They are not a Morecambe by any means.

But in the longer term they face big issues when their current sources of funding dry up. Like the rest of us.
