News and Star wrote: Reds chairman Humphrey Dobie insisted no approach had been made for Edmondson, and said: “I have spoken to Darren, and he did not apply for the Barrow job.
“There has been no contact between the two clubs, despite the rumours.”
Oh, FFS. I'm getting sick of this: all the hints, rumours, counter-rumours, counter-counter-rumours, half-truths, lies, misinformation, the "my mate saw such and such in KFC and he asked for a side of coleslaw" nonsense and all the other bullshit surrounding this now. Just wake me up when it's all sorted, will ya?

Typical Evening Mail type article that.

Goes on and on about Edmondson being a possibility and then in the last sentence they say it's believed he has not been interviewed.

That article is so inaccurate.

That journalist is going to look very silly in the next few days.

How on earth can the BOD think this would be a good move?

The only reason I can think of is that all those interviewed this week expected more salary and budget than the club could offer so they are looking for a cheaper alternative.

Or maybe he came to the board with a really good idea of what he wants to achieve, willingness and understanding of the steps we need to take to bring youth through, focus more on the area and town and connect with the people?

Out of the other candidates, Carl McCauley was in a a similar position but less local and less experience possibly, forum favourite Gary Lowe (who I doubt any of you could say much about as a person, manager, style etc other than that he got Hyde promoted) has history of leaving a club due to budget difficulties and has been out of a job for 2 years, and Meeks with no managerial experience who in the month he's been in charge has yet to gain a win in the league.

People need to wake up and realise who we are, where we are and where we want to go. We don't have a plethora of big names knocking on our door, nor the money to pay them if they did.

Give the guy a chance ffs, he's actually done a very good job on a smaller budget and far less inspiring circumstances up the coast, kept them punching above their weight, got them to a play-off and a trophy QF and against all odds actually attracted some decent players to the arsehole of the country.

If this is true and the directors contacted someone after they had completed interviews, this shows a total lack of sensitivity towards the applicants, especially Alex Meecham who lets be honest has done a reasonable job to date, and if the others were not keen due to money being offered Meecham surely was happy with the deal and should have been appointed, this is going to leave an awful bad taste in the mouth, like Bayliss you have been in situe far too long.

Not sure what Edmondson could bring that Meechan couldn't to be honest. Meechan is interested in the development of youth and the links with the academy set up.

If (and it's looking increasingly likely) it is Edmondson, then we'll just have to wait to hear what he has to say and hope he can inspire the fans. That is what is needed. He's got to come out with a very positive message about where he sees us going over the next 2-3 seasons.

Look at Workington's record this season under Edmondson. I could understand going after him if they were doing well, but they are one of two teams who are even lower than us in the division!

Yet another baffling decision.

They've won more league games then us this season...

3 wins out of 15 games. Wow, I can certainly see why we've made an approach for such a great manager...
