Re: Decisions being made
It's going to be an agonising wait to see if we go into L2 or stay in NL. Everyone almost without exception are in favour of Barrow going up. Everything written or spoken in the media is with us. The statistics, however existing points are analysed, are with us. A question of being patient I feel. Thereafter whether footy survives as we know it will be top of the agenda. The financial difficulties for many clubs following the effect of the virus could be insurmountable. I so hope we are safe whichever league we play in in that respect.

The following statement is lifted from Acc Stanley chairman on twitter, he's quoting John Coleman.
These are some outstanding reasons why i think there might not be any more football played outside of the premier league this season

Re: Decisions being made
Good piece, well written. Nice to see a chairman lay out facts rather than tell you what the answer is. But it boils down to "Cant go on like this or we'll be screwed financially". Plus, they'll have a full compliment of loanees that they'll lose and probably cant afford to pay beyond June anyway.
Accy are still a non-league in the way they are set up and do brilliantly on what they have. The virus will feel like a death blow to their ambitions. That is so sad. The chairman wants the season voided. Accy are 17th - not bad for then at all - and are well clear of the bottom three. So no surprise.
However is if the chairman is right and there's no football until 2021, Accy probably couldn't last without more funding for which the EFL would have to look to the Prem. This will involve asking for another hand-out without offering any football for it. Also this is not (yet) the position of the EFL. The words rock and hard place come to mind.

Are players at League 1 and 2 payed 52 weeks a year ? so if no footy till Jan players under contract would still be paid ? Same go for us ? Cannot remember how many players we have on 2 year deals but we would need to pay those we have and all back room staff till Jan without any gate receipts PL and FA needs to step up and fund clubs.

Re: Decisions being made
FA doesn't have the funds to keep the rest of football afloat. The Prem does but any money if offers will probably come with conditions which is probably why the EFLs stance on season completion is what it is. The Prem are driven by commercial and regulatory principles to keep going. So it's unlikely to be immediately turned on by requests to prop up teams down the pyramid especially if those teams are not intending to play.sambino wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2020 10:41 am Are players at League 1 and 2 payed 52 weeks a year ? so if no footy till Jan players under contract would still be paid ? Bear in mind that most Prem clubs are foreign owned as well so dont expect too much in the way of sympathy or sentimentaily for the English game in general.

I don't agree that it's well written, he could do with a proof reader. However the points he makes are spot on.

Yes as someone who writes over lengthy posts I see what you mean. I just like the way he tries to articulate and explain the problems before coming to his own solution. Rather than the other way round.

Interesting read on BBC sports says there's a possibility of no non-league football for the rest of the year,,

Re: Decisions being made
That's a prophesy that has been doing the rounds in recent days. It stems from a view that NL clubs would not be able to meet the 5 tests being mooted by HMG for sporting events to take place. Though publication of these seems to have the opposite effect on elite sport with the suggestion that some sports could be up and running within weeks.Salthouse Bridge wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2020 6:28 pm Interesting read on BBC sports says there's a possibility of no non-league football for the rest of the year,,![]()
All I would say is that were it to be true I'm pretty sure that quite a few NL clubs might not be around by 2021 so you're probably talking about a complete restructure. On that theme I notice the latest sound bite from Fylde suggests that its owner is intending to reduce the level of his financial support for his club during this period. Not sure how that's going to help.
