We were easily the better side and deserved the win, but we did look very nervous and played nowhere near as well as we did at Boston.

As others have said, I don't think the system suits the personnell we've got, Andy Burns is a very good full-back but not a wing-back. We looked way too light in midfield first half. A straightforward flat back 4 suits us best in my view, Williams is just not in anywhere near the same class as Grand and Livessey so he has to be the one to make way. There has to be a place for Sam Sheridan in the centre of the park, probably alongside Crowther. Then we need to be utilising the talent we've got out wide more with Reid, Pilkington and Cribley as we looked quite narrow at times tonight. Up top I was impressed by Wilson when he came on tonight so he must be in contention for Saturday, but I would find it very difficult to leave Walker or Cook out.

A pleasing night overall though, and there is without doubt more to come from these players.

Was I watching a different game to most people !! after a bit of a struggle early on, Edmo realised a change in formation was required as we were getting overun in midfield, so he pushed Cowps into the middle and went to 4 at the back. Thought he was immense in midfield, mopping up loose balls, allowing ARH to bomb forward. After the change, thought we bossed the majority of game, apart from early second half when a defensive error let them in to equalise - their only chance from there on.
Hopefully Edmo will keep it 4 at the back on Sat to allow more creativity from midfield.
Pilkington & Reid will run most teams ragged on that display - onwards & upwards .

Ste you are right about the flares or whatever you want to call them - I've made the comment not because they bother me as they don't but i just don't see a need for them and it makes us look, imo, the tin pot club other fans want us to be. Also if the club banned whoever let it off you would all be crying over the injustice when people are fully aware they are not supposed to be used. Just makes me laugh really
everyone is entitled to their opinion, deal with it

PS: Just seen Robbie Williams tweet about my comment, sorry big fella, maybe a bit harsh, what if I change it to "Not as good as Grand or Livesey"? Can we be friends again :skill:

Weird game but we are a work in progress and delighted with the result.

Two, maybe rubbish analogies (sp?) about us:

1) It's a bit like Edmo has been given a big powerful bike he's not sure he knows how to go yet- he sees the power and occasionally we storm on, but we also stall and look embarrassing and clueless at odd points, considering the brand new expensive toy. Edmo knows this level, this will get much better.

2) Less charitable- we are Mark 2 Rangers. Expensively assembled with zero pattern of play or plan, the individual ability of the players expected to bulldoze others. It is quite easy to praise individuals- ARH :o excellent again, Cooky, Reid etc but less easy to say much good about formations and style but Darren will do better because he's not Ally McCoist, thank Christ. At least we changed it when it wasn't working- fair play. 442 or a variation please Darren, 3-5-2 will not work with these lads!

As to the smoke (it really isn't a flare, please, they are miles more dangerous even though pyro is legal in other Euro countries) a bit daft but the reaction was worse and frankly much more likely to cause trouble.

Good result- work to do :D

Big fat Steve Housham blames the referee for his teams loss, saying the ref come from Kendal. Bad loser I thinks.

I thought we had a bit of luck tonight but no doubt deserved it. Gainsborough stuck everybody behind the ball and when we scored I thought we would go on to win comfortably to nil. Williams was as fault for the goal...great in the air but his footwork not so great. ARH subbed off quite rightly at half time as he was awful tonight. Cook should have stayed on...Pilks never in a million years meant his goal and Burns/Wilson were absolutely immense with their contributions to the third. We have played better but the points are all that matter. Someone will get a pasting at some point, quite possibly Hyde this Saturday...

No idea who let a smoke thingy off but I do not appreciate a steward throwing his fists around when trying to get to it. I wasn't happy that I got hit in the arm and another lad was hit in the face despite being nowhere near it. They need proper training before they aggravate the wrong people which very nearly happened tonight...
Steve Herbert supports the nob theory - Saturday 4th February 2012.

If this bus crashed and everybody on it died, Barrow football would end - Daz Boyle, Boston away, August 9th 2014.

Is he blind,? What about the foul by the keeper on ARH in what was in my opinion a penalty, and the fact we were clearly better than them all over the pitch

I'd assume you're on the wind up there, but considering the rest of your post is quite serious i'm really not sure 8-)

Nope, thought he gave the ball away very cheaply quite a lot. He was a lot better Saturday.

Each to their own but I couldn't disagree more, thought he was just about our best player, shading it over Cowps and Cook.

Oh and he got subbed off about the 65th minute I think, not HT.

I am pleased we can take off the likes of Cook & ABH (giggle) & replace them with equally good players, this should really spice up the competition for places & keep everyone hungry and on their toes.

Talking of Cookie, John Goodwin calls him Cook rhymes with Puke, Whereas others say Cook rhymes Hook, Which way do most Barrovians pronounce it?
