Poor first half again although after going one down though I did say we'd start playing now as we always seem to do. Second half was much better when balls were played to feet (why does no one in the team or management realise this???)

I like Simon Grand but this continual launching of the ball into the outer atmosphere is getting ridiculous, I can't remember him doing it this often early on in the season and it really does need to stop, I cant believe Edmo doesn't see this simply doesn't work.
Cooky again worked like a man possessed & deserved his goal, I dread to think where we'd be without him! I'm hoping we've had out share of injuries to first choice players this season because he'll keep us in the hunt if we can keep him playing.
I feel sorry for Jase because he's trying but it's just not happening for him, but there seems to be very little option other than starting him at the moment. Wilson should've been replaced early on but hasn't been and this is the result of that in-action....forced to play a player who is struggling.
I'm not a great fan of signing loanee 18 year olds but we need to get the young lad (Wilmer-Anderton) signed up for the season, a cracking prospect and a very definite goal threat from LB.
Some really bad balls from Paddy again but he wasn't the only one, some of the passing for players in a supposedly title winning side was truly awful.
Not been Johnny Gormans biggest fan (apart from his sub appearance against Fylde) but he did ok today and took his goal really well.

We stumble on..........I can only hope the players can take the positives of winning with a badly depleted squad. I do think however we'd be winning this league if we'd have managed to keep some of the injured players fit, but that's football.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Could not disagree more!! Barrow totally bossed the game from start to finish dint think that was a stumbling performance at all.
I am amazed anyone can find negativity about today's performance.

Once again we scrape through with a very ordinary performance, we struggle to command and dictate matches. Our passing was atrocious first half especially. Walker is so far off his game it beggars belief he's even getting a start, this squad is nowhere near a top side, yes we are missing key players but we have limped to victories all season and not impressed at all bar Chorley at home. But no doubt ppl will be happy we've won n pretend all is rosey. Attendances are also showing our entertainment value of late. What difference will Edmo going full time make to the teams performances???

Not spectacular but we bossed that.

- solid performances all round.

eh??....And there's me landing back home thinking, yeah, that was a good solid shift and well deserved win. I think when we go 1-0 down we (fans) have got to show more patience (self included). I've pencilled that one in as possibly the most comfortable win (after Chorley) that I've seen at home this season. We bossed that second half entirely.

Andy Wood on RC asked the same question when first he came on but quickly learned that he was the 3rd string 'keeper.
Technically, the second choice keeper. The lad who went off only returned to the club a couple of weeks ago to replace the first choice keeper who is out injured, if that makes sense.

Very frustrating again in parts this afternoon, but a good, grafting performance I thought. Some of us on this forum, me included, are fierce critics of the long ball game that seems to be the default setting, but this afternoon they deserved credit for clawing their way back into the game by trying to work the ball on the deck. Yes, some of the passing was sloppy, and there were some poor first touches, but our best chances came from quick feet, and intelligent use of the ball.
As for Jason, he is much more effective when not having to constantly try to pull the ball down out if the sky with his back to goal. On the whole though, I am satisfied with a 3-1. With key players due back in a few weeks it's imortant to keep grinding out the wins with a shuffled pack.

A deserved win in the end, I think going behind once again probably detracts from a generally 'sound' if unspectacular performance.

I do wonder, when listening to the frowns and abuse thrown from fans around me, whether some fans forget the standard/level we are playing at. Considering it was a brisk, dry winters afternoon the attendance was a tad disappointing for a side in 2nd.

FWIW Cul de Sac's view was shared by Goody and Andy Wood, who said we bossed the game, result never in doubt even when one down, one of best performances for some time.

I think some fans have whatever the opposite is of rosy spectacles!

Andy Wood is talking shite then for at least the first two thirds.. we have no way of playing therefore are utterly dependent on individual form..

Still, delighted with a second win in a week and well done Cooky and Wilmer-Anderton especially again. Gorman made a bit of a difference so well done him.

Still sore going though for too much of the time.

A marginally improved MOM award moment, Cooky's lap of honour via the pizza a sight to behold (if you were quick)

Oxford gave Fylde a game so interesting next week, good luck to those going.

I think a few things put in perspective, firstly Guiseley are about the only side ive seen come here and try to play football the rest have come to soak up pressure and try to hit you on the break.
When teams come and camp 9 sometimes 10 players in there own half it's hard to break them down the last two games have been fine examples of that formation and both times weve just had that little bit of quality to break them down this with a depleted side. Its not great to watch its frustrating and nervy but credit must be given to Barrow as there doing it against sides that just want to spoil and defend,
The football on show may not be of the type we want to see but this league is not for pretty football (sorry to blow your illusion) .
On attendances since christmas everywhere is quiet at this time of year as normal working people have just had christmas and don't get paid till late january so stop talking it down that its due to the football on show, get positive get behind the lads and stop giving negative posts, we haven't played champagne football but were a strong second and if we keep up the pressure who knows what might happen. :scarf:
