Sorry, but if I'm in a pub, a group of lads start fighting and the barmaid says out loud to the manager 'typical men, this is what happens when you get men involved with alcohol' should we be outraged? Its all about the context of things.Steeley wrote:People also need to remember he said this at his WORK, and we are the paying customers. I think most people would be pretty outraged if you were in a restaurant or shop and a member of staff was walking round saying similar. And no, football isn't 'different' especially when it comes to discrimination.

What about when Paddy Lacey gives a foul away and someone from the main stand shouts "get him off edmo , typical Paddy !" can I be outraged and sue them ?

If you are with mates - you know what you can and can't say if someone overhears and is outraged that's their problem
But if you say it about a third party you don't know and they hear about it and take offence then that's fair enough - he thought he was being funny he shouldn't have said it - it's double standards from the club they try and sweep it under the carpet - I'm assuming those at the top in the club knew about it
It must be ( it shouldn't be ) hard for the women to get on as it is without people who should know better joining in - why should people even make an issue out of someone's sex it's pathetic

Absolute joke!
Some of the double standards that this topic has raised are unbelievable.
If sacking people was the answer to this situation & that rule was applied throughout life as a whole then there would be no one left in any work place to produce anything in this country.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

say the board did follow your draconian stance then edmo would be able to take them to court for unfair dismissal!
tell you what let`s go further anyone who shouts abuse at an official let`s ban them for life!
give the guy a break i bet you,me and the majority of posters on here have made some comments about officials, players other supporters which we may or not regret!
If you think sexism or any other kind of discrimination is acceptable at a workplace then you must be deluded.
Regarding my 'draconian stance' its the club that have set the standard by banning a lifelong supporter for shouting out of a window.
THIS 100%
The end.
What would Jesus do?
Re: Edmo has 5 match touchline ban for sexist comments
Just watched highlights on YouTube. The only filmed incident which might have evoked comment from anyone was when the Gainsborough player was sent off and she was stood on the field of play with her flag up. Perhaps Edmo was making the remark to the Gainsboro' bench.

Two big questions here.....
Did the club/mail/radio Cumbria really think in this day and age that no-one would find out about this?
Who paid the £3k, himself or the club?

If there is any conspiracy I seriously doubt BBCRC are involved. Having just listened to the opening 20 minutes of the commentary on yesterday's game I can only assume that Andy Wood was as blissfully ignorant of all this as (most of) the rest of us. Fast forward to about 16 minutes (just before the penalty) if you want to hear the relevant bit.HenneysKnee wrote:Did the club/mail/radio Cumbria really think in this day and age that no-one would find out about this?

It also wasn't the only inappropriate/sexist thing he said about her that day. But that's another story

Stop the world, I want to get off, were all turning into sterile clones where being different will be a crime next.
