The majority of our players are not good enough to take us to the next level. That's a fact. Jordan Williams is a step in the right direction.
We will be better off with young hungry players. The majority of our squad are either past their sell by date or are simply not good enough for the step up.
If we do go up in a year or two it will be with a totally different set of players.

Dreadful game, therefore decent point- eyebleedingly bad at times, inept, aggressive and disorganised (and that was both teams)

We sort of blundered to a point.

Nae criticism to the new lad, JW or Cooky

Goodbye midield.

Best pub by a mile since Lowestoft, had to drag ourselves to the match

About right WG. I would retain Grand.Symo a useful player that can play in a couple of positions. All about opinions :)
Grand, get rid
Symington yes best crosser in team.
Van den broek I would keep.
Cowps go, we can't keep someone because his dad was good. Made mellor look world class today.

Need a clear out but the contracts given by Mr Edmondson and approved by P Casson may limit this.

Looks like Paul Cox is trying to bring aspirational players to Barrow if this new lad is anything to go by.
If we stay up this season may have a chance of play offs next year.

That was a proper pub. So much so I left at half time sorry mate. We are just above poor in quality. Awful place for atmosphere and simply poor placing of us fans. Only good thing about today was the pub and .............er well

What a soulless place to watch a game of football! A totally forgettable first half of football by both sides until we were opened wide by their number three Pattison and in having the freedom of the pitch to waltz through, with no midfield in sight and Grand caught napping plus a decent ball played through to Bowman, Dixon was the last line of defence and totally committed himself to try and win the ball off Bowman but got it wrong, so a fair penalty awarded and well dispatched by Bowman.

Jordan Williams looked busy throughout and it would of been interesting to see how he would of linked with Khan if fit. Second half was a slight improvement by us overall but Gateshead carried on dishing out the same manure as the first half so as it turned out we got a well deserved draw and a decent goal for Jordan Williams to open his Barrow account. Cook looked a little jaded today but it was his effort that made the goal for Williams, and if Dan Livesey is fit he simply has to start games.

Hope we can extend the loan on Khan and get a decent midfielder or two in and a proper right back before Tranmere next week.

I'm a bit worried about bingo. Last seen getting in a car with ruins and chief.
Hope he's OK.

Nice day out - football fairly bad - two poor sides - good point - miserable place to watch football - nice pub

Chief and Daz got me home safe and sound - thanks

Having just watched the highlights it confirms what I thought after the game.
Although it was poor from both teams on a horrible pitch in horrible conditions we were the better of the 2 poor teams and created the most chances.
Lovely flick by elliot for cook before goal.
I don't know what all our players were doing in build up to penalty apart standing and watching.

Dreadful place to watch football and there was a definite lack of quality in the game (BTW, listening to Radio Newcastle, the summariser said credit to both sides for a cracking game - I am not sure he was at the same game). I can't agree with some of the comments about our players. Grand IMO had a very solid game and apart from the penalty incident he and Williams dealt with everything Gateshead could throw into the box, including several timely interceptions of crosses. I thought Mellor showed more promise than anything I have seen previously, and Paul Cox suggested as much in his post match. He said something along the lines of "cultured left foot" and working with him in training to get him fit (you'll have to listen for an accurate summary!). I thought Cowps looked lost in his midfield role, although Cox also thought he had a decent game. J Williams definitely looks the business, could be just the foil needed for Cook.

With a new pint glass may I add ;)

Was a great day out, I think lord wintergreen summed the team up well in fairness. I can't comment as I haven't seen enough games but what I have seen is a very very very poor midfield.

What I couldn't understand is why we had to walk 3 km round the stadium when there was an entrance by the end we were in. When I departed at half time I asked the young steward why and I shit you not he said "we couldn't find the key"
