Phil yesterday helped out because Austin is on holiday, which meant Jamie was looking after the away directors. What made yesterday slightly harder work was the fact that Simon Bishop (was going to be guest speaker) had to give late back word due to work commitments, Phil agreed to step in along with Dan Cockerline (I had the nice job of just standing in the background )
Both Phil and Dan did a very, very good job of speaking to the corporates, a bit of humour and some informative team news.

I personally think its a great help when people who don't have to, agree to step in and help the club like this.

Step forward? It's a wonder you weren't killed in the rush. Why didn't yourself, Andrew Casson or Steve Patton do it as staff and Directors of the club or Emma Athersmith. Come on Ian.

Seriously, does it really matter? I would hate to have to speak to a packed room of half leathered supporters, Andrew has other duties on match days as does Steve Patton. Emma welcomed the corporate guests and explained her role at the club, Phil did the speaking, and from a couple of corporates I spoke to afterwards they thought he did very well.

I just don't get why this is getting to be made such a big deal of!

Out of touch Ian

Ian is the supporters liaison on the board wouldn't expect him to be doing corporate speaking, not saying someone else from within the club couldn't have taken on the role.

But with Austin away as is Sid no Stephanie or Paul in town. it looked to me like it was all hands on deck, noticed Andrew was selling match tickets on the popular side Ronan likewise on the stand side due to others missing on the day so they were stretched somewhat.

Not sure Phil is going to win any popularity vote with a few fans because he does seem to wind a few up the wrong way at times, but credit to him for giving it a go.

As they say you can't beat a good volunteer whatever people think his motives are!

I didn't like cleaning the toilets but it was part of my tasks as a volunteer cleaner. Glad I am not doing them now by the way.

It's when the well oiled corporates come in after they are kicked out of there that it gets lairy.

Be careful with your views on the corporate supporters Ian. I remember being on a corporate, in your company, a couple of years ago for Whitty's 50th.
Also don't forget they shell out £40 now!

Why is he giving team news though? I've seen him wandering round the crossbar and in the corporate rooms checking everything is ok. Paid staff to do this. End of the day he is a sponsor but is given free run of the spot as barrowchris said above. I'd be pretty [SwearFilter] off if I was also a sponsor and not given the same treatment as him.

Shouting at the people in the bar would have been bad even if it was someone employed by the club but seeing as though it was a volunteer is just embarrassing.
