The scoreboard is a fantastic idea and exactly the sort of thing us fans could get involved in fundraising for........but would it not be better waiting till the end of the season? If we do stay up and all the extra efl funding that brings the club may be open to going halves on a much better one or something?

The reason we have never gone for this before is it dilutes the fundraising going on with the (still pretty limited) fanbase.

Given the trust need to raise significant sums every year to maintain our 10% shareholding, it would be short sighted IMO to start going for "nice to haves" like scoreboards rather than "essentials" like the project to move the dressing rooms under the stand until the club is in a more stable place and losses that need to be covered are significantly less than at present.

If it hadn't been for Covid this could well have been next season, so hopefully the time to go for the "extras" will not be too far away.

Well said Richard👍
This is why I was reluctant to contribute at first but saw it as a one off so chipped in!
Sure there will be other fund raising opportunities going forward that are Trust driven and we will get to vote on where we want the money spending on in order of priority!

Rather presumptuous that you see this as a Trust initiative. Not all fund raising needs to be done through the trust. If supporters want to raise money for a scoreboard, or whatever else, as long as the club are happy then I see no reason why this can’t be done independently

Very fair point
If supporters are wanting to contribute to something outside of what the trust do then I think it’s all fair

What the trust does is superb and nobody is trying to say any different but supporters chipping in on their own back for something like this I think is a good thing and certainly doesn’t sway away from what the trust want to do

Fair point on the involvement of the Trust HKB.

I do think that my point about dilution of limited fundraising stands though.

Just think it’s better organised through one source then we really see the benefits for all. As Richard said it all starts to get diluted if it becomes fragmented. In my view people will only put their hands in their pockets so many times and we have the Trust set up to represent the many not just the few, but on this occasion it was something to make an instant impact and a statement of our support that’s why I donated!

Things like this where mentioned in the meeting with the owners online the scoreboard can be sponsored ect , very expensive for all purposes that though imo.
All opinions expressed are my own , not here to cause kick off just enact debate.

This imho is a tough one as the ideas are great & the fans can raise monies for anything they want & an electronic scoreboard would help modernize the ground that little bit & has sponsorship opportunities etc.
But on the other hand folk then ask the trust to become involved & I assume do a lot of the leg work & as others have stated, Dilutes their fund raising efforts & we still have a very small fan base & it’s the same few people chipping in for any fundraising schemes.

We have come along way in a few short years & WHEN we stay up & get use to life in the big leagues we can keep improving & grow our clubs appeal to the fan base locally & hopefully spread out a little further up the coast & Kendal/Lakes areas.

Again IMHO We need to focus on the must do’s before the wants,
We must keep our 10%
We must comply with the Leagues list of improvements as we can’t play if we don’t.

If enough fans want to set up a fundraiser & do all the graft, Go ahead & if I have any spare cash after I-follow, Supporting our 10%, Russ’s Raffles, Donating to the GMV, Buying Merchandise & the wife doesn’t kill me as she thinks I spend way too much on “The Soccer” as it is, I will donate, But that’s the problem I see you facing, Basically, Not enough of us & not enough money to go around & 40k+ is a task & a half.

Maybe there's someone with business contacts who could help source something like this as part of a sponsorship deal. Most of the cost could probably be written off in some tax thing or another by that company.

That's it in a nutshell, I'd say.
