Two games in and its very early doors, but the signs are there that once again we will struggle to hit the net often.

When Newby is Mom , you’re struggling. Surely Canavan or Stanway ?
It doesn’t really matter - of major concern is the front line looks considerably worse than last year and in midfield I can’t see any likely goal contributions. Worst start since Dunn.

Money talks in this league, checking online, MK Dons is owned by a Kuwait-based consortium led by Fahad Al Ghanim (owner since August 2024) family wealth of 1.3 billion which is almost enough to buy an astute boat (give or take a few hundred million), no wonder the two players who scored are from the championship.

Think we’ll be better when MJ is back, but (might have heard it wrong) Hemmings as another attacking option may have ruptured something?

Oldham went to MK last week and got a point with the lowest value squad in the league.

The highest value squad after MK Dons is Notts County, do we just write next week off too? And when we’re then 3 losses from 3, say well we’ve played 3 teams with much more costly squads than ours so it’s to be expected?

Well we are struggling but Newby had a decent game. Stanway didn't do a lot wrong, was surprised an earlier post said we needed a keeper.

Yes because we expect to lose against these ‘big sides’ we play negative football and still end up losing. The mentality is all wrong

Couldn't see anything their yesterday to ignite a bit of hope.
Going to have to bring someone in with a bit of pace alongside Cameron to give us any hope of surviving.

Should have gone with 2 up top yesterday.

We don’t have any full backs in order to play a back 4 , so we’re a bit limited unless we start playing players out of position which you won’t get away with in this league.

Not sure we will get the best out of Barkhuizen playing him through the middle.

Jackson was signed up as a left full back and iirc we started last season with a back for of Feely right back Vassell and Canavan at CH and Jackson at left back.
Agree regarding MK Dons. Spent massive money at this level and look a cut above anything I’ve seen in league 2 over the last few years.
The level of finances In league two have grown massively. I think it was said we were 15th in the wage bill table last season where as when we first came into the league it was said we were not far short of a play off budget.
If I read it correctly out owners recently pumped £800k into the club something that was barely mentioned. Close season has seen the club fork out around £60k to have a new electric main fitted at the ground plus the floodlight work,
These guys are not billionaires and cannot keep pumping money in year on year like they currently are. New investment is needed if we are to compete at the top end of the table on a regular basis

I don’t think anyone is denying they’ve spent lots more than Barrow but that does not mean we should just roll over.

Yesterday we did not do the basics and played ourselves into trouble which gifted them two goals. Money does not come into that.

We didn’t roll over imo. We competed and frustrated them up to the first goal. Second goal we were caught out pushing to many up looking for the equaliser leaving us exposed at the back. The only side last season In league 2 who came to Holker st and looked as good as MK did yesterday were Doncaster imo and look where they ended up
We have a brand new squad probably the biggest turn over of players of any side in league two and been given probably the toughest start too.

Carlisle spent alot more than Barrow and look where they ended up.
We have a old defence the break away showed that when they flooded forward .
Need a number 9 not been filled since Quigley left.
Maybe another midfielder.
Early days but we have to stop the rot.
Newby had a good game scares defences but no one in the middle when he crosses the ball.
Stanway made one mistake and I hope people won't get on his back for that.

What baffles me is Whing wants to play with Wingbacks which is fine if they're up to it, but then plays Barkhuizen who is also a wide player this tactically doesn't make sense,
Lee hendrie ( on sky last night) said if teams want to play this system fine BUT it's not easy you need a centre forward with 2 number 10 's slotting in behind and a high press and mobile defender's behind!
I honestly couldn't work out how we set up yesterday, this has to be sorted because yes MK Dons have money but just to throw player's behind the ball to frustrated them was a dangerous game and in the end mistakes will happen, which has in both games!

Defensive shape is all very well but when we are at home and have the ball and are in a position attack, too often we have two holding midfielders, Smith and Booty , standing in front of a back line and not getting involved. That’s tactics and instructions. An awful performance.
