For all you doom merchants think back to pre covid and Remember what good football we were playing and we had the best defensive record and guess what we have the goalie back three and wing backs .Also top scores in the league with 9 out 11 best starting eleven retained .Then we were saying this team could hold their own in league two, given we have a stronger squad we don’t need that much more to succeed

Well said, but how does that relate to 'new signings rumours' and who exactly is doom mongering?Broughton Fan wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2020 10:21 pm For all you doom merchants think back to pre covid and Remember what good football we were playing and we had the best defensive record and guess what we have the goalie back three and wing backs .Also top scores in the league with 9 out 11 best starting eleven retained .Then we were saying this team could hold their own in league two, given we have a stronger squad we don’t need that much more to succeed

Re: New Signings Rumours
In my last post I was just trying to say that the basic structure of the team is there so we don’t need lots of new signings perhaps just two in the positions highlighted.Re Nuttall v Humphries neither was prolific in league one but feel Nuttall has more potential if we can get him on season loan as this looks a good option for all parties, his wages might be higher but your not paying out a fee,you got to balance this out with paying a fee for humperies but at the end you got an asset to sell, the BOD with Hornby doing a good job of running the club within our means

Whichever way you look at it. The fact is that there is no one on the horizon as far as new signings are concerned.Broughton Fan wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2020 10:47 am In my last post I was just trying to say that the basic structure of the team is there so we don’t need lots of new signings perhaps just two in the positions highlighted.Re Nuttall v Humphries neither was prolific in league one but feel Nuttall has more potential if we can get him on season loan as this looks a good option for all parties, his wages might be higher but your not paying out a fee,you got to balance this out with paying a fee for humperies but at the end you got an asset to sell, the BOD with Hornby doing a good job of running the club within our means
Time is running out fast. We should have had any possible new signings on board by now and settling in/gelling.
I really can see us struggling this season.
The likes of Harrogate, Morecambe and Carlisle seem to have just about got their squads settled and sorted.

the transfer window doesn't close until early October - so it's not panic stations yet...Reginald wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2020 12:44 pmWhichever way you look at it. and IF the rumours of Nuttall and the young lad from Fleetwood are true then that's nearly all our business done - if you add Hindle to that we probably only have 1 more signing left.

How would you know there are no signings on the horizon? Do you know all the transfers before they happen?Reginald wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2020 12:44 pmWhichever way you look at it. Re: New Signings Rumours
We've got 19 players signed, our starting XI will be pretty much decided on by the boss. Only one that is a real risk is #2 goalkeeper but sounds like Josh Lillis is lined up for that role.Reginald wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2020 12:44 pmWhichever way you look at it. I'd rather we got the correct 3-5 extra players that we want, than rush to fill the positions with players we don't have an intention of playing. If that means going into the season with a few positions empty then so be it.

Re: New Signings Rumours
Re Nuttall,He picked up an injury in their first pre season game against Port Vale,he has just had a scan on the injury and the scan has come back okay so is starting straight line running so this may be why things put on hold till after scan result
Re: New Signings Rumours
Obviously im not DD or am i ?
but i could see Hindle, Penfold and Brown being subs like last season. I could see around 7 of last years squad starting and then 4 of the new lads but we do need additional players to cover (goalkeeper, striker and a play maker midfielder) we had next to zero goal scorers come off the bench last year and no Rooney so we are lighter on the goals front. The squad looks good and we'll see who gets the nod to start but i do feel we are just a couple light for a big season esp with cup runs.

Re: New Signings Rumours
I'm not DD either but I would start all 9 of our first team players (including Scott Quigley after his suspension ends) plus Mike Jones and 1 other in midfield unless we sign some more players who are exceptional. You could make a case for James Jones instead of Sam Hird or Patrick Brough but I'd definitely give those who did so well last season first go.LCBAFC40 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2020 4:30 pm Obviously im not DD or am i ?but i could see Hindle, Penfold and Brown being subs like last season.
