Paul Hornby said he and Evatt "were having a good laugh on the phone about the numerous clubs Evatt has been linked with".
For me, reading between the lines, that tells me-he aint going anywhere yet and he's going to have a good shot at league two this season with Barrow.
And don't forget that Adam29 also reckons there is nothing in it at all and, its just a made up story by a journo collecting bits of non substantial information from here there and everywhere and throwing together to build a false picture.
The so called Bolton fans on this topic are a couple of wind up merchants imo-that have even managed to alert Radio Cumbria.
Bullsh!t news stories such as these will always be picked upon by journalists whether they be in Bolton, Barrow or Carlisle because substantial sports news stories are rarity, such as at the moment with what's going on out there in the big world.

If I was a quality football manager I would take one look at the train wreck in progress that is Bolton with its transfer embargo,financial situation and the expectation of the fans for instant success and say there is no way I could take their poison chalice onI would rather stay at a club where I have got a good team playing good football. At first I was quite annoyed at the prospect of evatt goining Bolton. If he does then I wish him all the luck in the world after what he achieved with us... BUT... Its not going to be easy for him, transfer embargoed so can't bring players in that suit his 'style' unless he can get them on a free and a club that has been on the down for years, can't see Bolton even finishing mid table to be honest. But good luck to him and if the prospect of more money and being closer to home has turned his head the so be it.

From our point of view as a club, we need to find a manager who can play a similar style and has a similar ethos. We have quigs for another 2 years and he said himself that evatt was the only manager that managed to get him playing football to the standard he knows he can and so we need someone else that can. The fans have appreciated the style we play and we don't want to go backwards on that (difficult I know!) but we don't want the lump it forward man again.

Like I say, evatt has done what no one else has in 48 years and so we have to be thankful for that, but I think unfortunately his head has been turned and the possible £ signs are blinding him. We know Bolton aren't wealthy but surely they've got some money to throw about given they can't pay for players. I wish him luck but he will struggle and might find himself going backwards and regretting it.

If Ian does go I hope he insists that we get the full compensation. If he goes before that is paid, leaving the club to pick up the pieces , I would lose all respect for him . On the other hand , provided we get paid and he goes, good luck to him . He negotiated the deal. He knows what the number is and why it was agreed. It would be immoral to just leave and say it’s nothing to do with me .

Yes I think Evatt is smoothing things over before he leaves.
He is polishing his image as he learns his trade.
Some of the things he has said in interviews is like when someone has died and people say good things about them,mentioning how Cassons and how he was given a chance .
He has his bags packed
At the end of the day he has got to do what is best for him.
He will.probably remember how Oyston was offered over a million from Southampton and would not let him go.He then got injured and Oyston got rid.
Bolton may be offering him a load of cash and he may think he may fail at Bolton but he will in theory get more of a pay off than if it happens at Barrow

He is selling his Labour but let's hope it's sorted quickly.

I think it's time some people on here realised that the only loyalty in football is from fans. Managers and players have only 1 loyalty and that is to themselves. They will always move on if they get a better offer unless they decide it is not in their interests. Everything I've seen over the last couple of days tells me Ian Evatt will go to Bolton if they can afford his fee and, if he does stay at Barrow, it will only because he has decided it would be better for his career until he gets a better offer. If he does move to Bolton he will, IMO, be making a mistake. According to the Bolton News, Wanderers have a transfer embargo until summer 2021 so none of our players will be following the manager if he leaves until the end of their contracts at least! Because of this Boton were the only club in the EFL which spent £0 on agents fees in the year up to Jan 31st 2020 so this is going to be a VERY difficult job for whoever takes over. It's worth noting that, apparently, they interviewed Michael Jolley the ex_Grimsby manager yesterday so it's not all done and dusted yet.

I understand they have to pay the £250,000 up front before Bolton can speak to him and if it comes to nothing Bolton get their money back.
Mr. Hornby is a tough cookie and there's no way they will get round him, no matter how persuasive an agent may think he is.
As Bolton have a transfer embargo at least he won't be taking any of our players with him, as I think most of them are on contract.

It was Paul Hornby and one of the other directors (Tony?) that were having the laugh not Hornby and Evatt.

And for me the telling comment from the chairman was the qualifying "just now" at the end of his denial. He did that twice.
