Fantastic win. 10 out of a possible 12 and unbeaten in 4.

Rushton signing till the end of the season is a fantastic bit of business, I really like the look of Cribley who is getting better and better, and by the sounds of it Parkinson could be like a new signing with a bit of confidence and a run in the side.

Oh and its been mentioned once or twice but Reynolds has been absolutely fantastic the last few weeks, still not convinced on O'Donnel but with Eddy looking a bit more at it again and POTS Andy Burns our defence may actually be repairable.

Sempre Sursum.

Some big games coming up now, lets hope we can keep this going.

Keeping hold of Rushton = massive boost.

Seen Barrow away three times this season & we've won all the games - are the BOD going to pay me to go to all the remaining away matches!!!!

This was a great performance make no doubt about it. Sure we were gifted the first goal & Stalybridge are poor but nothing should take away from this performance - best I've seen for a long time. Lot more energy and commitment about the team. Our forwards never stopped hassling & the defence looked very secure. We didn't mess around at the back clossed down the opposition in midfield and had forwards who were fast and agressive. Onwards and upwards I hope.

Don't get too excited over the 3 wins in the last fortnight. Wukky 3 points from last 36 and Staly 2 points from last 21!!!!!. Some tough matches coming up and we will have to be at our best to get the points we need from our last 20 games.

Fair enough Jock but believe me this was a good performance - just imagine if we'd lost to Workington & Alty & then done nothing at Stalybridge - we are giving ourselves a chance that's all you can ask for

Anyway here's my match report:-

Even though there was only 300 or so at the match there was a really good gathering of Barrow fans (about 70 I reckon) & by the end of the game were they making some noise. It really was the manner of our performance that caught my eye. Kicking with a very stiff breeze in our favour Barrow were closing down Celtic from the word go. I noticed right away we seemed to be much sharper and more aggressive since i last saw us lose to Telford back in November. Corner and Rushton both ran the channels really well and although the Celtic keeper Stevenson gifted us the opening goal in the 16th minute it was no more than we deserved. Celtic tried to hit back and McConville was booked for diving - but I reckon it was 50-50 & could have been a pen. But we deserved that bit of luck & it would have been totally unjust if Celtic had gone in at the interval on level terms.

I thought we might come under a lot of pressure in the second half due to the wind but was overjoyed to watch, what was in my view, the best 45 minutes I've seen from a Barrow side in a long time. Barrow were incisive, committed to the task and thoroughly outplayed the home side for nealy all of the second half. Davies scored a great header from a corner in the 65th minute after their goalkeeper had made a brillant save from (I think) Rushton moments earlier. And then Parkinson got the third in the 86th minute after two attempts had been brilliantly saved by the keeper before he hit a well placed shot into the top corner. McConville got one back but it was only a consolation. What really impressed me during the second half was the way Barrow broke on the counter. Some great interpassing between Rushton, Sheridan, Harvey & Corner to name but four saw us on numerous occasions stretching Celtic's defence to breaking point. We still need to be that bit more rutheless in front of goal as 6-1 would not have flattered us tonight.

I know I sound slightly over the top but I'm not. I really did see a very cohesive performance from Barrow tonight. Celtic are not good at the moment but we took advantage of this - something we haven't done in the past against weak teams. As long as we keep us this momentum we will be OK this season - the key is consistency. Well done Messrs Edmondson & Meechan keep it going.

Look at it this way... How many times have we seen a poor team that some have labelled as one of the worst sides in the league play Barrow. A side that has poor form, their own fans describe them as relegation bound and they look the part. Only when they play us for some reason they manage to get the win. They then start to clock up points and pull away from us and the relegation zone, they start looking much better and a handful of games later you don't recognise them as that poor team. I'd like to think we are that team for a change and our kick start was Workington.

Seriously ;) Edmo has taken Bayliss' misfiring, malfunctioning team added a few players and started to turn it round. We'll run over Telford like a steam roller over cheese. Darren & Dave added a few players to Phil Wilson's misfiring team, and the rest is history... I'll wake up in a minute.

Enjoying the moment.
