Re: AGM/EGM Fri 28th March
This may have been covered elsewhere but I'm afraid don't have the time to trawl through every piece of correspondence on this forum, I expected it to be covered in the voting pack but it isn't:
I've read the letters to members from Mr Keen and Mr Casson, and there is a lot of talk about "plans" and "general proposals" and even "financial proposals", but before I hand over my club to someone else I would like to know whether they have the means to support it. Does anyone have any evidence that the finances Mr Casson says he is going to put into the club actually exist, and if they do evidence of how are those finances going to be protected to ensure they are used as promised?
I wouldn't hand over my goldfish to anyone without some form of reassurance, let alone my football club.
And no, I don't want to rely on the FA to check this out, they don't have a good track record!

I am sure I read that Stephen Leonard had seen evidence that PC had the money to support his plans.
Re: AGM/EGM Fri 28th March
frankums, both Stephen Leonard and the board have indicated at meetings that Mr Casson definitely has the funds
everyone is entitled to their opinion, deal with it

Blue nige - I happen to live near Cambridge (like it says against my profile), which makes it a tad difficult to get to meetings in Barrow. A lot of supporters live a distance away, and that is why it is important as much info as possible is included in the voting pack. You can buy me a pint to say sorry next time you see me.

As its so important its vital to do your research i.e. read the thread from start to finish.
I’ve ticked both boxes to make doubly sure the takeover happens.

Re: AGM/EGM Fri 28th March
I think it was a fair question Nige. People who aren't as sure as others are should have the right to ask any question that is bothering them & get the answer they deserve. It'll probably be one of the most important decisions we'll ever have to make as BAFC supporters so fans need to vote with confidence that they're as happy as can be with their choice.
Seeing as there seems to be a trend of stating which way we've voted -
Mine was posted this morning with a YES.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

I can confirm what I said at the EGM which was that I have seen evidence of Paul cassons finances and accounts and based on this can state that he has sufficient resources to do what he has stated in his proposal. The fa will also want evidence of this (possibly even more than I have seen) and it is they who have the final say in that issue. Hope this answers you question.
Some people really do need to think a bit more before they post things on here

Looks like 13 yes votes so far according to this thread, the silence is deafening. Lets hope that apathy doesn't kill the golden goose.

Re: AGM/EGM Fri 28th March
Just thought I'd share, for those who don't get the EM, the letter I sent in and was printed tonight. The intention was just to try and make people think about their vote.
Sirs,
like many, I have been to the meetings, AGMs. EGM and even a Constitution meeting at the club and so have heard all that the board and their advisers have had to say about this situation. Likewise I have been to the Forum for Mr Casson's introduction and Q&A session. Again, like many, I have experienced the uncertainty of the club going into liquidation and the wave of optimism as Brian Keen rallied the troops to bring us back from the brink. Following that was the fiasco of the 'Progress' Group and their attempted takeover. We've had Wembley wins, relegations, promotions, legal battles and great cup days out.
I think it is fair to say that we, BAFC fans, have had a roller coaster ride with the club. Now we have another major decision to make, undoubtedly the most important one since 1999 and one that will, one way or another, shape our future.
It has been laid on the line at the AGM and EGM that this club has continued to make a loss every year bar a few when we had a good cup run. This will continue unless more cup runs come along or the playing budget is cut even more drastically. The board (past and present) have battled valiantly and their efforts and support should be lauded by all for as long as club exists. Unfortunately I think that may only be a couple of years if we turn down the chance to get on board with Mr Casson, and allow him to pump some funds into the ground and the team. The board can't keep digging into their pockets. The club can't keep making cuts. The dwindling crowds can't support the club as it is, never mind any drive for improvement (that is not to take away any credit due to the BDF and the Ground Maintenance Team).
And so we come to the upcoming vote. A YES vote will require a leap of faith for certain. Faith to put the club in the hands of a man who seems to have been as open as could be expected, a man who is that which we have moaned that we were missing for the past few years. A local man made good. Someone who wants to put something back and perhaps even make a return on his money (and who can blame him for that?). Debts will be paid, settled or satisfied. Urgent ground improvements will be made (floodlights, pitch, toilets, Holker St roof maybe and other things that are more than the volunteer effort can deal with). The profile of the club would be changed. The inference was that Mr Casson is ideally placed to bring the club right up to date in the digital and virtual age. We would see a young manager being supported with funds to develop a team to take us places.
What is there not to like??? Oh yes...the spectre of a certain Liverpudlian. That man has hung over us for years and it is about time we all shoved him from our minds and don't allow his time with us to stop us placing trust in a man who, in my opinion, is a different creature altogether.
A NO vote (or not voting at all) will quite simply condemn us. We will have a field and some walls in a very few years and that is all we will have. Even on the playing side, what sort of players would come to a club that had the chance to show some ambition and threw it away? Players we don't want...that's what sort.
For those members who are currently thinking of voting no, or not voting at all...please think about what your vote might mean to the majority of other members. It's pretty clear from comments on the terraces, in the meetings, around the workplaces that most people intend to vote in favour of the buy-out. For the good of the many I urge you to put aside your misgivings and place your trust in the idea that sometimes, just sometimes, there are people out there who want to do good things.
Sincerely, Gary Bundy
