I get what you mean Mike. Its a horrible world we live in at the moment.
However Edmo has been found guilty regardless of if we think it is right or not. The club has been known to ban its own fans for less serious things and its left some unhappy.

A word in itself is not offensive/racist but rather the context in which it is used is.
If you're walking down the street and see a mate and you then shout 'Oi you stupid [SwearFilter]' then clearly that will not be offensive. However, if you shouted it at a random person in the street you may cause offence.
In my view Edmo's comment were designed to cause offence because he brought gender into the equation. The comment was made simply because she was female and any other comments at an official would usually refer to 'referee' which is of course gender neutral.
When Directors are telling fans that 'this is a family club. If you don't like it go and watch the rugby' then they are giving themselves a problem when this type of thing happens with a member of staff.
The FA have dealt with it, so for me that's the end of the matter. The club, probably with the assistance of the EM, have deliberately tried to keep this quiet and it stinks of double standards. I believe that PC is a good guy with the club's best interests at heart but most of the people employed to run the club are useless arseholes.

Ploos one (apart from the last point).

The club really haven't handled this very well.
They can't be that stupid that didn't think it would come out.
A simple statement at the time would have done.

I am assuming the powers that be at Barrow AFC did know about this, I would hate to think what might happen if it was hid from PC.
We have all done silly things and tried to be clever and comically and for it to all go wrong - I really don't think he is sexist, just stupid - you can't have a club preaching to the fans about respect and the manager doing this and it being swept under the carpet.
I've said things when calling bingo that might be classed as sexist but it's more about taking the [SwearFilter] out of myself and the women knew i wasn't sexist and it was fun banter - in context it wasn't malicious. I would never ever question someones ability to do a job based on sex, sexuality or race - that's just plain rude.
In certain positions you need to be extra careful what you say - you can have thoughts and views but sometimes best to keep them in your head - you can't be done for that - yet!

You could always mention it on Steve Shaw's twitter or email him just to make sure he knows if you wanted to?
The club would have known about it as they would have been contacted by the FA about the disciplinary hearing outcome and I'm pretty sure would the Evening Mail would also know about it and kept it quiet on the instruction of the club hoping nobody would find out.
Clearly the Club and the Mail won't put any bad news out about the events at the Club - in future perhaps people should put it on here seen as we won't get it from any of the official channels?

I would imagine most peoples views would be different if it was their daughters receiving similar comments in their job.

According to the report on the FA website Russell Dodd was a witness.

Why would I do that? Im not that arsed about it TBH.
He will read this forum anyway I'd imagine. Be weird though if the Mail knew about it and didn't report on it. Thats usually the kind of thing they go bat shit crazy over.
If they knew about it and didn't report it then something clearly has gone on.

"8. Mrs Jaehrig told us that immediately after saying those words the Barrow manager, who had turned round towards the stand, caught her eye and could see that she was shocked. He then said to her: “Well, it’s true”. Mrs Jaehrig responded by saying to him: “I know who you are.”"
That could be classed as a threatening response from the woman like
13. There were some trivial discrepancies between Mr and Mrs Jaehrig’s accounts of the exact position of the Barrow manager when they say he made the comments, such as whether or not he was turning round at the time, but nothing in itself to cast any doubt on the truthfulness of their evidence or on its accuracy on the essential points.
15. We have referred so far to “the Barrow manager”. Mr and Mrs Jaehrig did not know his name on the day of the match and had never seen him before. However, it was obvious to them that the person making the offending comments was the Barrow manager. Mr Darren Edmondson was the Barrow manager. Moreover, they have identified him since from the Barrow AFC website and from photographs and they specifically identified Mr Edmondson at the hearing (at which he was present) as the person they saw and heard making those comments at the match on 6 December 2014. There is no serious possibility of mistaken identity in this case (and we attach no weight to the trivial inconsistency between Mrs Jaehrig’s description of Mr Edmondson as “bulky” and her husband’s describing him as “quite skinny”.) If the offending words were said, we have no doubt that it was Mr Edmondson who said them.
hahahaha! Jesus Christ! They should have got CSI down immediately!
Having read that report in full I kind of feel sorry for Edmo.
This is all over words! What happened to "sticks and stones" and all that.
I can understand that this sort of stuff can't be said anywhere these days but this situation is something that could easily have been sorted out after the game, face to face with an apology. No one was harmed to a great detail. I could understand if the Lino was that dispairingly upset that she wanted to file a report herself and wanted action taken. No one should be made to feel uncomfortable at work.
Mental though how you could steal a handbag off an old woman and get an £80 quid fine. Edmo here has allegedly said such a meaningless comment and is now £3k down!
£3k down! Suarez's £40k fine for his spat with Evra looks like nothing considering he would have been on about 100k a week at Liverpool!
This part here sums it up.
9. In her second written statement, dated 19 March 2015, Mrs Jaehrig said that since her first statement her husband had reminded her that what she had said to the Barrow manager was” “You don’t know who I am but I know who you are”. By that she had meant that she was a member of the Lincolnshire Football Association Inclusion Action Group, tasked among other things with stopping that sort of discriminatory comment in football.
Hes said it within earshot of someone who is going to react badly to that sort of thing. If she goes to the toilet or the burger van as he said it then all this doesnt happen.
Wrong place, wrong time. Wrong words!

Sorry, but that's laughable.
This would be a great story for the paper - Manager banned for being sexist. If anything, it would more likely make the front page if it was known about sooner.
There are many more "in the know" people on here than Steve Shaw, and he'll only find out what certain people want to tell him.
And equally, as pointed out - how come BBRC never reported it? Or the BBC Football website for that matter?
Some people on here are unbelievable.

As are those calling for him to be sacked. A tiny mistake and should have a telling off at worst.

Maybe, but that's still better than being a nation of racist, sexist, homophobic bigots.
